3151 | Mrs. Moise was a lifelong resident of Opelousas. She graduated with honors from LSU in 1930 with a B.A. degree in mathematics and English education. She was a member of Mu Sigma Rho, LSU's only honorary scholastic fraternity at that time. At LSU, she was elected to the Co-ed Honor Council and the Co-ed Executive Council, and she helped collect nickels to purchase the first Mike the Tiger mascot. She was a Red Cross volunteer during WWII and an officer of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She organized a kindergarten in her home in Opelousas in 1947 which met for 18 years. Prior to opening the kindergarten, she taught math and English in Eunice and Port Barre for several years. She served as the 25th president of the Opelousas Women's Club. She was a life member of the Women's Society for Christian Service. She was the oldest living member of record of the Louisiana Memorial United Methodist Church, as well as its oldest living member. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Edward Anthony Moise; her parents, Frederick Frank Hollier and Effie Dimmick Hollier; one brother, Lt. Col. Frederick F. Hollier, Jr.; and an infant sister, Elizabeth. She was survived by one son, Dr. Edward D. 3152 | Mrs. Normand D. Wilkinson Memorial services for Mrs. Normand D. Wilkinson, 84, of Longview, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at the chapel of Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Road, with Father Eric Zubler and Verger John C. Murphy Jr. officiating. Mrs. Wilkinson died Sunday, March 16, 2008, at a local nursing home. Mrs. Wilkinson was born March 6, 1924, in Louisiana, to Leon and Nora Mercer Dufilho. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She had served as past president of Junior Service League of Longview. She attended L.S.U. and was active in R.O.T.C. Women’s Brigade. Mrs. Wilkinson enjoyed gardening and fine food. She was preceded in death by her husband. Dr. Jacques D. Wilkinson; and son, Normand George Wilkinson. St. Amand Funeral Rites Are Held Today Funeral services were scheduled for 3:30 p.m. today at the St. Landry Catholic church in Opelousas for Mrs. Paul St. Amand, the former Louise Luminais, who passed away at her home yesterday afternoon at 2:10 o’clock, at the age of 67. Mrs. St. Amand was born in New Orleans on Feb. 22, 1879 and removed to Opelousas in 1903, where she resided until her death. Mr. St Amand died here about 24 years ago. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Walter Baillio, Mrs. Kirby Fontenot, Mrs. Louis Dufilho of Opelousas, and Mrs. Richard Gunnar, Peoria. Ill.; three sons, James, Alex, and Paul, all of Opelousas; one sister, Miss Estelle Luminais, New Orleans; 21 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. 3155 | Mrs. Quirk Buried At Washington Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday for Mrs. Daniel Quirk. 91. the former Aimee “DeDe” Dufilho, of Washington. She died at 11 p.m. Saturday following an illness of several months. Father Patrick Regan officiated at services at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, with Lafond and Son Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Quirk was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Washington for 67 years. She is survived by one son, Ned Quirk of Washington; and four brothers, John, Roger, and Charles Dufilho, all of Opelousas, and Joseph Dufilho of Houma. 3156 | Mrs. Rita Boudreaux, 76, of 2219 Woodrow, died at 8:20 p.m. Sunday in St. Mary Hospital. A native of Breaux Bridge, La., she lived in the Port Arthur area 61 years. She was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. St. Catherine’s Altar Society, Missionary Rose Petals, Catholic Daughters of America, St. Mary Hospital Auxiliary, and celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary with her husband Maurice Boudreaux in 1971. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 Monday in the Grammier-Oberle 39th St. Chapel. Funeral services were held at the Catholic church and interment followed at the Catholic Cemetery. She graduated from Opelousas High School in 1918, worked at Planters’ Bank and in the 1930s worked with the Acadia Parish Welfare Department. Tex., the former Mabel Hollier of Opelousas, died this morning at the St. Landry clinic in this city following an illness of less than a week. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. Mrs. West came to Opelousas last week to be here during the illness and subsequent death of her grandmother, Mrs. Charles Dufilho. She herself became critically ill and was removed to the clinic where she underwent an operation. Daughter of Mrs. A. M. Hollier; and the late Mr. Hollier, former residents of Opelousas. Mrs. West had a host of friends in St. Landry, where her family is prominently known. She and Mr. West with their family have resided in Port Arthur for the past 12 or 14 years where Mr. West is an employee of the Gulf refinery. Surviving are her husband, two sons and one daughter. Myrtle was born January 26, 1919. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Emick; daughter, Genevia Guidry; and grandson, Keith Andrus. She is survived by her sons, T.J. Andrus, Sr. and wife, Linda and Wayne Hollier and wife, Marie; daughter, Juanita Richard and husband, Jimmy all of Sulphur; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren. I had five children from this marriage, named Louis Dufilho residing in this city, Henry Dufilho, deceased, Edmond Dufilho also deceased, Sophie Dufilho widow Lartigue, also deceased, and Auguste Dufilho, deceased at the age of about three years. I give and bequeath as an advantage and [empty] to my granddaughter Dame Felicie Lartigue, wife of Mr. William F. Goldthwaite, of this city, all the portion which the law allows me to dispose of to the detriment of my heirs, in all the property that will belong to me on the day of my death. I also give and bequeath to him all the personal effects such as body linen, and the furniture of the room I currently occupy, all the other furniture of the house belonging to Mr. M. Goldthwaite. I appoint and institute Mr. William F. 3186 | Nancy Hollier Ryder November 17, 1917 - June 15, 2010 Opelousas- Funeral Services for Nancy Hollier Ryder, age 92, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 18, 2010, with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. Interment will follow in the Myrtle Grove Cemetery. Father Pete Smith will officiate the Service. Ms. Nancy was a residence of Opelousas. She died on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at in the Prompt Succor Nursing Home. She enjoyed quilting, reading and doing word puzzles. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. A special thanks to Prompt Succor and the entire staff who gave her excellent love and care. Thanks also to Dr. Gary Blanchard and the Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care.
