Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott for Mercedes B. Hollier, 84, who died on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette surrounded by her family.

Entombment will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Mausoleum in Scott.

The Most Reverend Michael Jarrell, Bishop Emeritus of Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Reverend Gilbert Dutel and Reverend Gary Schexnayder will Concelebrate. Deacon Art Bakeler will be a server. Lectors will be Raime Thibodeaux, Amanda Griffin, Roneé Jo Simoneaux and Eryn Hollier. Giftbearers will be Alyse Horaist, Macie Dugas, Alayne Williams and Kristen Boutte. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "Amazing Grace", "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman", "Halleluia", and "I Can Only Imagine".

She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Glenda H. Thibodeaux, Lorraine H. Dugas and her husband, Jack and Josette H. Horaist and her husband, Chris; two sons, Glenn J. Hollier and his wife, Charlotte and Randy L. Hollier and his wife, Bobbie; one sister, Lillie Mae Meche; Fourteen grandchildren, Ryan, Raime, Justin, Joshua, Chris, Ronee, Eryn, Kristen, Macie, Alyse, Matt, Joe, Amanda, and Alayne; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Leona Richard Broussard; her husband, Clayton Hollier; one son, Ronald C. Hollier; and two infant daughters, Claudette and Penny Hollier.

Mercedes Broussard Hollier was born in Rayne, Louisiana and was a resident of Scott for most of her life. Mrs. Hollier was a dedicated employee of Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Scott for many years. She was a member of many organizations including CFMA (past President), CFMA National Board Member, Krewe of Atlantis (past President and Board Member) and 2016 Queen Hera XIX, Charter Member and former Regent of the Catholic Daughters for 9 years, World Day of Prayer Committee for over 15 years, Faith House supporter and donator, Mae Boudreaux's Prayer Group, La Jummelage Member, Blackie Forrestier Dance Group, and talented seamstress. Mrs. Hollier was a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Community where she served as a lector, taught CCD and was Director of Religious Education for over 33 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed by all.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Thibodeaux, Chris Hollier, Joshua Hollier, Justin Hollier, Matt Horaist and Joe Horaist.

A Christian Vigil will be conducted by Deacon Art Bakeler on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 6:45 PM in Martin & Castille's SCOTT Location, followed by a Rosary recited by the Catholic Daughters at 7:00 PM

The family requests that visitation be observed on Tuesday from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of services.

LEONVILLE - Funeral services for Mrs. Merida Richard Durio, 94, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Leo the Great Catholic Church here with burial in the church cemetery. Mrs. Durio, a resident of Arnaudville, died Thursday, June 17, 1999, in Doctors' Hospital of Opelousas. Survivors include: two sons, Lee Hollier and his wife, Cecile, of Grand Prairie and James Hollier and his wife, Jean, of Alexandria; a daughter, Ruth Robin and her husband, Emile, of Leonville; a stepdaughter, Elaine Trahan of Scott; a sister, Octavia Stelly of Arnaudville; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; six step grandchildren; and nine step great-grandchildren. Mrs. Durio was preceded in death by her husbands, Warren Durio and Ovide Hollier; her father, Alcee Richard; her mother, Alexidriene M. Richard; and her granddaughter, Tammy Credeur. Visiting hours will be observed from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Saturday until time of services. Pellerin's Funeral Home of Arnaudville is in charge of arrangements.

3067 MICHAEL JOHN HOLLIER passed away on May 5, 2004. He was born on July 22, 1947 in Beaumont, Texas to Ollie Joyce and Francis N. HoIlier. He attended South Park High School in Beaumont and received a degree from Lamar University. His sister, Kathleen Wright Hollier of Houston, survive him. Michael worked for almost 30 years at Stewart and Stevenson, most of them in the Airline Products Division on Harrisburg. He was active in the Stewart and Stevenson Employee's Association. Involved in his community, Michael served in several offices, including President, for the Houston Country Club Place Civic Club. He served as a Trustee and Secretary of the Houston Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus and was involved in ACT-UP Houston. A lifelong Democrat, he served as a delegate to the State Democratic Convention several times. Michael volunteered as the manager of the Stone Soup Food Party of the AIDS Foundation Houston. He loved gardening and was active in several garden clubs. He was a devoted member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. With his friends, especially the Dinner Bell group, he made many gambling trips to casinos in Louisiana and Nevada. Michael will always be remembered by his friends for his good heart and generosity. He was always happy to see you and a delightful companion. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Michael John to the Stone Soup Food Panty of the AIDS Foundation Houston. Funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday at the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home, Old Sunset Highway, for Mr Milbert J. St. Amand, 68, of Whiteville. He died at 11 a.m. Saturday at his residence.
Mr. St. Amand was a farmer. He was nicknamed the “Boray King of Elks Lodge.”
Burial will be at the Cedar Hills Cemetery, Washington. Visitation was scheduled from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors include: his wife. Mrs. Stella Lee St. Amand of Washington; two sons, Larry J. St. Amand and J. Bennett St. Amand, both of Whiteville; two brothers, Earnst St. Amand of Opelousas, and Edward “Eddie” St. Amand of Richmond, Va.; four sisters. Mrs. Paul (Rita) St. Amand, Mrs. Garland (Mary Lee) St. Amand, and Mrs. Ed (Thelma) Culbertson, all of Opelousas, and Mrs. Edwin (Joy) Sink of Fort Wayne, Ind.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Garrett, Marty Chavers and husband Ridgeway MacArthur; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Jan Garrett, Wayne and Mary Lou Garrett, and Tim Garrett; sisters, Louise Day, of Conroe, Texas, and Ada and husband Owen Prestridge; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Ruby Hollier, of Pearcy, Ark.; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Port Barre- A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Mildred Landry Artigue will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre, LA. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery Mausoleum. Rev. Fr. Daniel Picard will celebrate the Mass.

Mrs. Artigue, a native and lifelong resident of Port Barre, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016, at Lafayette General Medical Center at the age of 76. She was loved and adored by all and will be best remembered for her devout faith and her heartfelt love and devotion to her family. She was a wonderful friend to many, but will forever be remembered as “Grandma” as her grandchildren and great grandchildren held her heart.

Mourning her death, yet cherishing her memories are her brother and best friend, Burnell Landry; daughter, Nona Artigue (Tim) Schooler; grandchildren, Rachel Schooler (Scott) Hebert, Kristen Schooler (Mark) Dunbar, Lacie Hutto (John Paul) Pitre, Rusty Hutto and Eric Hutto; twelve great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Cleveland Artigue; daughters, Marguerite Artigue and Romona Artigue Hutto; great-grandchildren, Cooper Hebert and Brianna Hutto; parents, Lloyd Landry and Marie Aymond Landry; sisters, Marie Landry Prejean, Bessie Landry Prejean, and Delta Landry Veillon; her brother, Cleveland Landry; and her in-laws, Louis Artigue and Agnes Castille Artigue, Sr.

A Rosary Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Port Barre with the Funeral Mass to immediately follow.

3084 Miss Edith Dufilho of Colfax Dies; Funeral Held
News of the death of Miss Edith Dufilho early Thursday morning, June 6, in Shreveport, caused a profound shock to the citizens of Colfax. Miss Dufilho had been seriously ill for several weeks with typhoid fever and complications and on May 24 she was taken to Shreveport for treatment and remained there until her death.
Miss Dufilho was the adopted daughter of Mrs. J. M. Dufilho and had just passed her 25th birthday. She was a graduate of the Colfax High School, of the class of 1928, and also a graduate of a Shreveport business college.
The remains were brought to Colfax Thursday night and her funeral was held Friday. Interment was made in the Bethel cemetery.

Miss Eulah Hollier, born Aug. 25, 1888, died Thursday evening at 8:30 o'clock, at the home of her sister, Mrs. Joe Toups, in this city, after a long and severe spell of illness. She was a daughter of Mr. L. F. Hollier. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Catholic Church. Interment was made in the Old Catholic cemetery. The funeral was largely attended and the floral offerings were numerous and pretty.

SHREVEPORT - Miss Jerelyn "Jere" A. Keeth. died at LSU Medical Center on Saturday, December 28, 1996, after a brief illness. Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home on Monday, December 30th from 6 until 8:30 p.m. and Tuesday, December 31st from 8 until 10 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., Tuesday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Reverend Guido F. Verbeck, III officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. A reception will follow the services at St. Paul’s Episcopal Parish Hall.
Miss Keeth was a member of the Episcopal Church and the teaching profession. Her teaching career has included elementary and secondary schools in both Texas and Louisiana, most recently in Midway Middle School in Shreveport.
Miss Keeth was preceded in death by her mother, Vivian M. Keeth, and her father, Ray C. Keeth.
She is survived by many friends and relatives.
Pallbearers will be Tim Rich, Todd Rich, Terry Partain, Clint Partain, Rusty Squyres and Jay Squyres.
Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Pinkley, Steve Whatley and Jonathan Rich II.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be to the Jere Keeth Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 18037, Shreveport. LA. 71138.

KINGSVILLE - The Rosary will be recited for Miss Lucille Delery, 69, at 8 p.m. today in Piper Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. tomorrow in St. Gertrudes Catholic Church with burial in Chamberlain Cemetery. Miss Delery died at 4:15 p.m. yesterday in a local hospital after a long illness. She moved to Kingsville in 1916 from Arkansas. She was director of nursing at Texas A&I University for 22 years and retired In September, 1970.

Breaux Bridge - Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel for Monita Marie Thibodeaux Hollier, 91, who passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at Opelousas General Hospital. A rosary was recited at 1 p.m. Thursday. Deacon Marcel “Butch” Hebert officiated at the funeral service. Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1. Mrs. Hollier was retired from Heymann’s Department Store, where she worked as a sales clerk for 43 years. She was a collector of vintage coffee cups and loved nurturing the fl owers in her yard. Monita enjoyed playing Bingo, Pokeno, and going to the local casinos. She loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter and great grandchildren, and visiting with her neighbors. She is survived by her son, Larry J. Hollier and his wife Judy of Breaux Bridge; her granddaughter, Jennifer Usie and her husband Gary; and two great-grandchildren Laykin and Kynlee Usie, all of Breaux Bridge. She is preceded in death by husband, Harold Joseph Hollier; her parents, Armand and Eda Richard Thibodeaux; four brothers, Percy,
Alex, Lee and Allen Thibodeaux; and her sister, Jeanne Thibodeaux Penn.
