Funeral services were held April 22 at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Port Neches for Francis Hollier, 84, of Beaumont who died April 21 at St, Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Entombment was in Oak Bluff Mausoleum under the direction of Sheffield Funeral Home, Port Neches. Pall bearers were grandsons.A former resident of Houston and Pott Neches, Hollier was retired from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department with the 58th District Court. Survivors include three daughters, Bernice Norris and Kathleen Wright, both of Houston, and Beth Zipprich of Port Neches; three sons, Oscar and Francis Hollier, both of Port Neches, and Michael Hollier of Houston; a sister, Dell Spooner of Abbeville, La.; two brothers, Nelson and Howard Hollier, both of Abbeville; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

MICHAEL JOHN HOLLIER passed away on May 5, 2004. He was born on July 22, 1947 in Beaumont, Texas to Ollie Joyce and Francis N. HoIlier. He attended South Park High School in Beaumont and received a degree from Lamar University. His sister, Kathleen Wright Hollier of Houston, survive him. Michael worked for almost 30 years at Stewart and Stevenson, most of them in the Airline Products Division on Harrisburg. He was active in the Stewart and Stevenson Employee's Association. Involved in his community, Michael served in several offices, including President, for the Houston Country Club Place Civic Club. He served as a Trustee and Secretary of the Houston Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus and was involved in ACT-UP Houston. A lifelong Democrat, he served as a delegate to the State Democratic Convention several times. Michael volunteered as the manager of the Stone Soup Food Party of the AIDS Foundation Houston. He loved gardening and was active in several garden clubs. He was a devoted member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. With his friends, especially the Dinner Bell group, he made many gambling trips to casinos in Louisiana and Nevada. Michael will always be remembered by his friends for his good heart and generosity. He was always happy to see you and a delightful companion. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Michael John to the Stone Soup Food Panty of the AIDS Foundation Houston. Service to be held Thursday, May 13, 2004 at 10:00 AM at the Lutheran Church of The Redeemer, 5700 Lawndale Avenue, Houston, Texas, Reverend Grant W. Housewright officiating.
