4839 | Velma Hollier Burleigh, 94, died at 2:30 a.m. Friday, November 27, 2009, in her home. She was a native of Abbeville and lived in Sulphur since 1936. Velma attended Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include her loving husband of 73 years Dalbert Burleigh; daughter Debbie Gauthreaux and her husband Ted of Lake Charles; grandchildren Linda Boudreaux and David Gauthreaux; 4 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, November 30, in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Rev. Gerry Boulanger will officiate. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park in Lake Charles under the guidance of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. 4840 | Vera Ladner Olier, age 90, of Kiln, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2010 in Bay St. Louis. Mrs. Olier was a native of Hancock County, a resident of Biloxi for many years and has lived in Kiln since 1971. She was employed for many years with Marvard's Seafood Factory in Biloxi and she was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, White Cypress. She was a kind, generous and loving woman and will be greatly missed by all of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Olier; infant daughter, Vera Marie Olier; 4 brothers, Ora J. Ladner, Hayward E. Ladner, Jimmie Ladner and Dennis J. Ladner; and 4 sisters, Irene L. Moran, Mildred L. Smith, Relia L. Harriel and Velma Ladner. Survivors include her 2 brothers, Winfred G. Ladner and Howard R. Ladner; 2 sisters, Neva L. Olier and Betty L. Ladner and husband Pat; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10 am until 12 Noon, Saturday, November 20, 2010 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 27074 St. Matthew Church Rd. in White Cypress Community. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 Noon. Burial next to her husband will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at Rotten Bayou. Charles Soileau officiated with burial at Cormier Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home in Vinton. She died Sunday in a Sulphur nursing home. A native of Rayne, she was a longtime resident of the Toomey area. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Vinton. Survivors include her husband, Clement Hollier of Vinton; two daughters, Pat Sonnier and Eloise Broussard, both of Vinton; five grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; nieces; and nephews. 4849 | Virginia Hollier Naquin April 6, 1924 - February 10, 2014 Opelousas- Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia Hollier Naquin will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at St. Landry Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulcher Mausoleum. Fr. James Brady will celebrate the Mass. Music selection will be by Debbie Richard and Phyllis Simar. Virginia was a resident of Port Barre. She passed away on Monday, February 10, 2014, at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 89. Virginia enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, taking care of her dog Missy. Virginia was a devoted catholic who prayed the Rosary continuously. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include son, Curtis Naquin and wife, Michelle of Port Barre, daughters, Betty Olivier and husband, Alex of Carencro, Lucille Lafleur and husband, Charles, of Port Barre, Grace Morgan and husband, John of Carencro, brother Corrace Hollier, and wife, Hazel of Opelousas, son-n-law, Guy Castille, of Opelousas, sister, Anora Lukosvicus of New Mexico, ten grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Naquin, her parents, Louis and Clemence Stelly Hollier, daughter, Linda Castille, great grandson, David Gabriel Ashy, 5 brothers, and 5 sisters. The family of Mrs. Virginia would like to send a special Thanks to her caregiver Ms. Rita Arnaud for all the love and care she provided. Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Home will reopen on Thursday at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A Rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the funeral home.
