Death of Mrs. Theo. Hollier.
Mrs. Theophile Hollier, nee Victoire Gonor, died at the family residence, in Opelousas, on Tuesday evening, February 27, 1906, aged 51 years.Death had been hovering o'er this peaceful home for some days, seeming to halter in his determination as to whom to clasp to his clamy bosom and fly away to the Land of Sleep; or whether he should rob the home of one, two or three of its inmates. For several weeks he has done this, for a time with father, mother and son in bed at one time, with the same malady - pneumonia. Then the son got up, and the race for the grave was between the father and mother. Tuesday death came to the mother, while yet the father was faltering on the brink. The tolling of the bell told him that mother was no more.
"Bell! thou soundest merrily,
When the bridal party
To the church doth hie!
Bell! thou soundest mournfully;
Tellest thou the bitter
Parting hath gone by!"
The Clarion extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.Mr. Hollier, we are glad to say, is better, and prospect for his recovery are cheerfully entertained.
