Kaplan—Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013 at a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Lorraine Gaspard Hargrave, 87, who died Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital. She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend D. Blaine Clement officiating the services.
She is survived by one son, Kersey Hargrave of Kaplan; three daughters, Loretta Suire and her husband, Curnis "Nookie" Sr. of Crowley, Flodry Hargrave of Kaplan, and Belinda Dronet and her husband, Michael of Opelousas; two sisters, Loula Hollier Abshire of Kaplan and Elsie Hollier Seaux of New Iberia; 20 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; and 20 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Joseph Hargrave; her mother, Thelia Doucet Hollier; her father, Felicien Gaspard; her stepfather, Odelion Harrington; three sisters, Leonie Hollier, Leona Abshire, and Eula Hollier; and six brothers, Alphe, Leonard, Loudis, Walton Sr., Doris, and Clerfae Hollier.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.; Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 8 a.m. until the procession departs for the church.

Avery Abshire Given Last Rites
Kaplan, La.— Funeral services were held Monday at 10:30 a m in the Holy Rosary Catholic Church here for Avery Abshire, 58, who died Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Kaplan hospital. Burial was in the Kaplan Catholic Cemetery.
Survivors include his widow, the former Lula Hollier of Abbeville; two sons, Edward Abshire of Kaplan, and Ervin Abshire of Abbeville; four daughters, Mrs. Elmo LeBlanc of Erath, Mrs. Dudley Duhon of Abbeville, Mrs. John Menard of Carencro, and Mrs. Russell Keith of Fort Polk; one sister, Mrs. Gloria Abshire of Georgia; five brothers, Eudor and Leonard Abshire, both of Abbeville, Leonis Abshire and Dr. Gaulman Abshire, both of Kaplan, and Paul Wilton Abshire of Buras; and 18 grandchildren.
Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan was in charge of all arrangements.
