LAMBERT, SPECIAL EFFECTS TECHNICIAN, AT 89
Daily News of Los Angeles (CA) - Thursday, January 5, 1989
Services are scheduled today for Edward S. Lambert, a former special effects technician for Paramount Studios who worked on more than 300 film and television productions during his 30 year career. Lambert, a North Hollywood resident for 40 years, died of complications from old age Friday. He was 89. From 1938 to 1966, Lambert's effects marked such productions as Alfred Hitchcock's "North by Northwest," and "To Catch a Thief."
Lambert also created the creeping fog effect for the Passover scene in Cecil B. DeMille's "The Ten Commandments" in 1956, said Lee Vasque, former head of Paramount's special effects department. "Everyone was his friend whether they knew him or not," said Pat Abbey, Lambert's daughter. A World War I Navy veteran, Lambert's daily bicycle ride was a familiar sight in his North Hollywood neighborhood, Abbey said.
In addition to his daughter, a La Canada resident, Lambert is survived by his wife, Ruby, of North Hollywood. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Pierce Brothers Little Country Chapel at Valhalla Memorial Park in North Hollywood. Burial will follow.
