    EUNICEIt is with great sadness that the family of Dennis Hollier announces his passing on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou surrounded by his loved ones. He was 85. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Friday, April 23, 2010 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice at 10:00 am. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Cedric Sonnier Celebrant.

    Dennis a resident of Eunice serviced his country proudly in the United States Navy. He was the owner and operator of Holliers Super Check and was the original cofounder of Eunice Superette and Slaughter House. He was a Woodmen of the World officer for many years as well as the Affiliated Blind of Louisiana State Board for seven years.

    He was a true gift to his wife, kids, and grandkids. Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife, Verna L. Hollier of Eunice along with their three beautiful children, two sons, Dennis Dale Hollier and wife, Linda Fruge of Denham Springs, Keith Hollier and wife, Connie Fusilier of Mamou his daughter, Abbie Hollier Marcantel and husband, Dennis of Eunice his brother, Auley Hollier of Mamou. He is also mourned by his grandchildren of whom he was very proud, Desiree Hollier Feucht, Michael Hollier, Dawn Hollier Babineaux, Tami Hollier, Dustin Douget, April Miller, and Alex Marcantel. His two greatgrandchildren, Kohl Feucht and Kaylee Babineaux were a great source of joy.

    Now he rests in heaven with his beloved parents, Octave and Ida Hollier six brothers and five sisters.

    U.S. Veteran Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Cemetery for Elvin Hollier, age 84, who passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014 at 1:28 p.m. at Opelousas General Health System in Opelousas.

    Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau.

    Mr. Hollier was a native of Mamou and a resident of Sunset for over fifty years. He was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Mr. Hollier was a veteran of the military having served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was assigned to task force 7 in the Marshall Island as part of the United States Atomic Energy Commission aboard the U.S.S. Frank Knox where he participated in Operation Ivy in Fall of 1952, and the U.S.S. Estes where he participated in Operation Castle in the Winter of 1954. He was entitled to wear the National Defense Service ribbon, Korean Service ribbon, United National Service ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal.

    Survivors include his beloved wife of sixty two years, Elnora Miller Hollier of Sunset; and three sons, Michael Hollier of Fredericksburg, VA, Jack C. Hollier of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Daniel Hollier and his wife, Pamela of Carencro.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam Hollier and the former Adelide Lanclos both natives of Leonville; one son, Joseph Bryan Hollier; five brothers, Louis Burke Hollier, Allen Hollier, Thelisma "Tim" Hollier, Mayance Hollier and Joseph Hollier; and three sisters, Inez Thompson, Melda Fontenot and Armance Tate.

    The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Melancon Funeral Home in Opelousas from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.

    A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

    Pallbearers will be Daniel Hollier, Jack Hollier, Michael Hollier, Brandon Miller, Tony Miller, Joey Lambert.

    Frank W. Hollier of Groves passed away at his home on Saturday, June 17, 2010
    at the age of 87. He was born September 9, 1922 to Louise LaLonde Hollier and Oscar Hollier in Mamou, Louisiana. Frank served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He retired from Texaco as a decoker after 40 years of service. Frank has been a resident of the Port Arthur/Groves area for over 60 years and a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Groves.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and his wife, Euna Hollier.

    MAMOUIt is with immense sadness and heavy hearts that the family of George G. Hollier, 88 announce his passing on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 4:00 pm at Southwest La War Veterans Home, Jennings, La. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 2:00 pm at St. Anns Catholic Church in Mamou with Father Mark Melancon as Celebrant and Father Richard Vidrine as CoCelebrant. Rite of Committal will follow in the New St. Anns Mausoleum in Mamou.
    George was a World War II Veteran who was honorably discharged and received a Purple Heart Medal. He is a member of the American Legion, VFW, Disabled American Veterans, and a Knight of Columbus Member.
    He was a Master Wood Craftsman, opened his Woodwork Shop in 1948 and worked in that shop until it was closed in 2007 due to his illness.
    George will be greatly missed by his Sister, Shirley H. Verrette and husband, James Harold of Lake Charles La one Brother, Jack C. Hollier and wife, Carol of Anacoco, La one niece, Sheila Justice and husband, Frank of Groves, Tx nephews, Dennis Verrette and wife, Lisa, Donald Verrette and wife, Shively and Patrick Verrette and wife, Annette all of Lake Charles La Great nephews, Steve Munson and wife, Maria of Dallas Tx, Mark Hollier and wife, Hollie of Ragley, La and Jason Hollier of Anacoco, La.
    George will now reunite in Heaven with his parents Louise LaLonde Hollier and Oscar Hollier two brothers, Louis and Frank Hollier a sisterinlaw, Euna Guillory Hollier and nephew, Bryan Munson. They surely await his arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.

    Funeral services will be held at 2PM Monday, March 24, 2008 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Grand Prairie for Wilfred "Lee' Hollier, 76 who passed away Thursday March 20, 2008 at Ville Platte Medical Cener.

    Entombment will be in the church mausoleum.

    Mr. Hollier was a veteren of the U.S. Army, having served in Korea. He was an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church, and served as an usher, and Lay Minister. Mr. Hollier enjoyed the outdoors, campmig hunting fishing and gardening.

    Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Cecile Lafleur Hollier of Grand Prairie, four daughters, Yvette Smith and her husband Elter of Grand Prairie, Danita H. Bourque and husband Larry of Eunice, Helen Hollier and her companion G Craig Fontenot of Ville Platte, and Janet H. Boullion and husband Glenn of Crowley, one brother, James Hollier and wife Jean of Alexandria, a sister, Ruth Robin of Leonville, eleven grandchildren, Chad, Justin, and Alex Smith, Brandon Bourque and his wife Ashley, and Adrienne and Lauren Bourque, Chauncey Fontenot, and Emily, Olivia, Katie, and Abigail Boullion, and three great grandchildren, Conner, Jay Owen, and Madeline.

    MAMOU - Funeral services will be held at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Saturday, September 12, 2020 for Maudraline “Margie” Hollier Gidlow, 86, who passed away on September 9, 2020. Her loving family surrounded her at home, as she passed peacefully in her sleep.
    Father Bala Rayapati will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.
    Burial will take place in Liberty Cemetery near Elton, Louisiana.
    Margie was born in Mamou, Louisiana, she was a homemaker and loving wife to Pete Gurdon Gidlow, deceased. She loved to quilt, crochet and garden. She was a global traveler and visited her family all across the United States and in many foreign countries. She was a devoted Catholic. Her family and friends will miss her dearly but rejoice in knowing she is celebrated in heaven.
    Margie is survived her son, Kenneth Gidlow and wife Catherine of Lafayette; her daughters, Sherry Guillory and husband Michael of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, Sarah Landreneau and husband Carl of Box Elder, South Dakota, Sheila Cude and husband Garry of Taylor, Texas, Mary Duhon and husband David of Basile, Pam Gaspard of Hampton, Virginia, and Lisa Brown and husband Don of Iowa, Louisiana; sisters, Mary Lou Merritt and Annetta Soileau; 17 grandchildren, Benjamin, Jeremy, Vanessa, Billy, Julianne, Eric, Dominic, Patrick, Melinda, William, Amy, Amber, Justin, Paul, Andy, Jessica and Robin; and 21 great-grandchildren, Zoe, Samuel, Sawyer, Isabelle, Nicholas, Rebecca, Hailey, Hayden, Emma, Zaylin, Anthony, Evan, Courtney, Tori, Elizabeth, Emma C., Zaron, Cohen, Sophia, Abby, Kiley and Emma D.
    Margie is preceded in death by her husband, Pete Gidlow; parents, Alcee and Vernice (Landreneau) Hollier; her sister, Leura Belle Diaville and son in law, Norman Gaspard.
    The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home on Friday, September 11, 2020 from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, September 12, 2020 starting at 8:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 AM Saturday.

    NEW IBERIA - At approximately I2:30 a.m. Sunday, a two-car collision at the intersection of US Hwy. 90 and LA 675 resulted in the death of two Sunset residents. According to Troop I investigating officer Merline Landry, a car driven by randy Joseph Porche, 26, of New Iberia was northbound on LA 675 when he allegedly failed to heed a stop sign and broadsided the car driven by Angela Nugent.
    Angela Nugent, 19, and Joseph Hollier, 21, a passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene and their bodies were taken to the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. It was reported that Porche was arrested and charged with failure to stop and for driving under revocation of license.
    Funeral services for Miss Nugent will be held today at 4 p.m. in St. Charles Catholic Church in Grand Coteau with burial in Bellevue Memorial Park directed by Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on North Main St. Survivors include her parents, Merlin P. Nugent and Mrs. Barbara Hebert Nugent, of Sunset, three brothers, Aaron Nugent, Terry Nugent and Audie Nugent, all of Sunset; one sister, Mrs. Donald (Shelly) Wilson of New Iberia; her maternal grandparents. Pearl Baudin and Claude Hebert, of Lafayette.
    Funeral services for Hollier will also be held at 4 p.m. today in St. Charles Catholic Church in Grand Coteau with burial in the church mausoleum directed by Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on North Main St.
    Survivors include his parents, Elvin Hollier and the former Elnora Miller, both of Sunset; three brothers, Mike Hollier of Lafayette and Jack Hollier and Danni Hollier both of Sunset.

    A Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday February 4, 2014 at 2:00 pm, in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott, LA for Loretta H. Crouch, 58, who passed away on Saturday February 1, 2014 at 9:10 am at her residence.

    Reverend Thomas Voorhies, Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.

    Burial will take place in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery.

    Loretta, a resident of Lafayette, LA was the daughter of John Hollier and the former Anna Marks.

    Loretta, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Loretta graduated from Acadiana High School in 1974, then she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1978 from U.S.L. with a B.S. in Nursing. She worked at Lafayette General Medical Center (ICU) and Women's and Children's Hospital. She enjoyed playing tennis, vacationing on the beach with friends. She enjoyed Mardi Gras with her husband David who is a member of the Krewe of Triton. Loretta and David were active ULL Supporters. Loretta enjoyed hosting many family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren.

    She is survived by her loving husband of thirty seven years, David M. Crouch; her son, Chad Crouch & spouse Melissa; her daughter, Kellie Crouch and spouse Blaine; her son, Brady Crouch & wife Trisha; her brothers David K. Hollier & wife Jill, Jean L. Hollier, and James J. Hollier & wife Rebecca; her sisters, Annette Guichard & husband Joel, Maude Lightcap & husband Doug and her two grandchildren, Jonathan M. Furman, and Bryce A. Crutcher. Also surviving are several godchildren, nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Theophile Marks and Maude Dupuis Marks and her paternal grandparents, Arthur Hollier and Celima Lalonde Hollier.

    The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive, on Monday February 3, 2014 from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm on Monday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Tuesday February 4, 2014 from 9:00 am until the time of service.

    Pallbearers will be Chad D. Crouch, Brady M. Crouch, David K. Hollier, Jean L. Hollier, James J. Hollier, Scott J. Dailey, Stephen R. Lightcap and Adam M. Guichard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Russell Dailey and Valarie H. Guidry.

    In lieu of flowers the family requested that donations be made to Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School.
