Alice Mae Thompson Kopfler, 93 of Lake Charles died at 3:00 AM on Friday, June 18, 2010 in a local hospital. Born November 3, 1916 in Baton Rouge, LA, Mrs. Kopfler was raised in the Hammond, LA area and has lived in Lake Charles since 1963. She was an active member of First Christian Church and was a charter member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Justice Lodge #238. She was also a member of the Diggers and Weeders Garden Club, the Gingham Ladies, Red Hat Club, and the Enterprise Club. Mrs. Kopfler will be remembered as a fun-loving individual, who enjoyed entertaining, but her passion was for cooking, and authored her own book, I Love My Cookbook. Mrs. Kopfler is survived by her children, Susan Broussard and husband Dwight of Lake Charles, Jan Zirilli and husband Blane of North Carolina, and Steve Trahan and wife Donna of Lake Charles; brother, Charles Thompson and wife Lorraine of St. Augustine, FL; grandchildren, Timothy Trimble, Sean Trimble, Jill Trimble Smittle, Amanda Trimble Settle, Kristy Elliott Church, Amy Elliott Powell, Lori Broussard LaFleur, Carrie Broussard Babineaux, Trey Broussard, Alisa Trahan, Julia Trahan, and Meredith Trahan; and twenty-three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her children, Ronnie Trahan and Patricia Trahan Trimble; three husbands, Carroll Trahan, Francis Hollier, and Edward Blount Kopfler; brother, Bill Thompson; and parents, Willis and Lydia Thompson. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 21, 2010 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
