Obituary for Bertha Hollier
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Bertha Mae Hollier, 83, who passed away on October 23, 2010 at 12:15 am at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Michael Madden, an elder with the Lafayette West Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hollier, a resident of Scott, LA, was the daughter of the late Thornton Tolliver Williams and the former Bertha Polk. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and was a member of the Lafayette West Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Bertha loved animals. She enjoyed watching birds and squirrels at her feeders, especially hummingbirds. Her constant companion was her little dog, Pepper. For many years she enjoyed camping in the Smoky Mountains with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of almost 66 years, Elfedge Hollier; two sons, Elfedge "Al" Hollier and wife Jamie and Danny T. Hollier, Sr. and wife Kathy both of Scott, LA; two daughters, Phillis Madden and husband Michael of Scott, LA and Sandra Guidry and husband Bill of Milton, LA; twenty grandchildren, Garnie, Kristie, and Jonathan Hollier, Carmen Arceneaux, Amanda Worrell, Misty Welch, Danny Hollier, Jr., Saybra Slayton, Rachael Miller, Danna and Debbie Hollier, Anita Roth, Todd, Aaron and Katelyn Madden, Jonathan, Billy, Ryan, Michelle and Mary Guidry; thirty-two great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three grandchildren, Ryan Madden, Shannon and Cassie Hollier; one great grandson, Cody Arceneaux; two brothers, Melvin Williams and George Williams; three sisters, Francis Williams, Lou Slaughter and Annabelle Jones.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Monday, October 25, 2010 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 am until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Garnie Hollier, Aaron Madden, James Leger, Jr., Sean Johnson, Forrest Mouton, and Mark Dudoit.
