EAST PEORIA - John P. Gunnar, 67, of East Peoria, Ill., passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
John was born Oct. 7, 1947, in Peoria, Ill., to Richard and Irene (St. Amand) Gunnar. He married Linda Denlick on May 20, 1967, in Peoria, Ill.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Gunnar of East Peoria, Ill.; daughter, Michelle Gunnar of Pekin, Ill.; son, Matthew (Rebecca) Gunnar of O'Fallon, Mo.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brother, Ed (Ginny) Gunnar of Peoria, Ill.; and three sisters, Patty (Doug) Swartz of Pontiac, Ill., Mary Gunnar of Peoria, Ill., and Louise Gunnar of Peoria, Ill.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Gunnar.
John was a veteran of the United States Army.
He worked at Pabst Brewing Co. in the scheduling department for 13 years and later worked for the Peoria Public Library.
John loved to spend time with his family and his friends. He never missed one of his grandchildren's sporting events.
His hobbies included football, helping others and taking great care of his yard.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today, April 26, 2015, at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Cremation rites will be accorded.
