William Charles Hollier
December 14, 1933 - October 6, 2015
William Charles Hollier passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of October 6th, 2015 in Baton Rouge, La after a brief illness.
He was born December 14th, 1933 in Opelousas, La and lived in Lafayette, La for 60 years after completing his education. He graduated in 1953 from SLI (now University of Louisiana, Lafayette) with a degree in History and a minor in French. He then received his Juris Doctor from LSU School of Law in Baton Rouge in 1956 where he served on the Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif. He subsequently enjoyed a highly successful career specializing in Oil and Gas law which spanned 42 years. He served for many years as an examiner for the Louisiana State Bar Exam.
He is survived by his children, Marie Denise Hollier of New Orleans, William Perrault Hollier and his wife Alyssa of Fairfax, Virginia and Henry Andrew Hollier and his wife Nicolle of Baton Rouge. He is survived by six grandchildren, William Hollier, Robert Hollier and Olivia Hollier of Fairfax, Va and Caroline Hollier, Andrew Hollier and Alexander Hollier all of Baton Rouge. He is also survived by one brother, Richard Hollier and one sister, Anne Hollier, both of Opelousas. He was also a dedicated and beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Gladys Hollier as well as three sisters, Inez Horecky, Edith Mafouz, Bonnie Tilly and one brother, Jimmy Hollier.
He was a true Renaissance man whose interests and talents included art, history, painting, genealogy, woodworking, cooking and conversation with good friends and family. He was fluent in French and reveled in the opportunity to travel to France to immerse himself in French culture. He considered it a compliment when someone felt he was "eccentric", which indeed he was. Above all he had a deep and intense dedication to his family which was apparent to all those that knew him.
In lieu of flowers the family requests any donation be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge or a charity of their choosing.
A Mass celebrating his life will be held at St. John's Cathedral in Lafayette, La at 10:00 AM, Saturday October 10th, 2015 with entombment immediately following in St John's Cemetery.
