Russell Andrew Hollier
February 20, 1938 - June 1, 2012
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Russell Andrew Hollier, 74, who died on Friday, June 1, 2012 at his residence in Lafayette surrounded by his family.
Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum.
Reverend Monsignor Paul Metrejean will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Jenci Hollier and Sarah Hollier. Giftbearers will be Allyson Hollier, Ainsli Hollier, Mary Ann Thibodeaux, Barbara Gautreaux, Ramona Benton and Mary Hollier. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing "Ave Maria", "Amazing Grace", "You Raise Me Up" and "The Rose" for the services.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Betty M. Hollier; three sons, Michael Blaine Hollier and his wife Therese, David Scott Hollier and his wife Vallie and Anthony Gary Hollier; five grandchildren, Allyson Hollier, Ainsli Hollier, Michael Hollier Jr. , Sarah Hollier and Jenci Hollier; three sisters, Mary Ann Thibodeaux, Barbara Gautreaux and Ramona Benton; and one brother, Robert L. Hollier. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Andrew and Agnes DeJean Hollier.
A native of Breaux Bridge and a resident of Lafayette for most of his life, Russell Hollier proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army National Guard. He was a Certified Public Accountant and was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Louisiana Society of Certified Public Accountants. He loved fishing and golfing, having won numerous awards in both sports. Russell was a very special person and he will be missed by his brother and sisters, close friends, associates, valued clients, children and grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Blaine Hollier, David Scott Hollier, Anthony Gary Hollier, Robert L. Hollier, Sidney Thibodeaux, E. J. Gautreaux and Michael Hollier Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his four granddaughters, Jenci Hollier, Allyson Hollier, Ainsli Hollier and Sarah Hollier; two daughter-in-laws, Therese Hollier and Vallie Hollier; special close friends, Chad Hollier, Sidney Benton, Pat Broussard, Pat Barousse and Janis Tribe; and the many valued clients he enjoyed working with over the years.
A Rosary will be recited on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location.
The family requests that visitation be observed on Monday from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of Hospice of Acadiana, for their kindness, compassion and gentle care given to Mr. Hollier and his family during their time of need.
