INJURIES FATAL TO 2 IN ORLEANS
Cycle, Hit-Run Accidents Claim Victims
Two persons injured in motor vehicle accidents died in Charity hospital over the week end. Dead were Dozier L. Sartin, 45, 1384 Esplanade, and Jean Dufilho, 43, 1117 Gov. Nicholls.
Sarah’s death brought to 29 the number of motor vehicle traffic accident fatalities in New Orleans since Jan. 1, and Dufilho was the 30th of the year.
Sartin was injured in an accident Feb. 1, and Dufilho was fatally hurt Saturday when a motorcycle he was riding turned over. Dufilho was riding on a motorcycle being operated by Germain B. Nodier Sr., 36, 718 Esplanade. The machine turned over at Ursuline and N. Claiborne at 12:05 p.m., then skidded 150 feet into a parked car.
The coroner’s office said Dufilho suffered, multiple rib fractures, a laceration of the lung, and a chest fracture. He died at 4:10 p. m. Sunday.
Sartin died at 11:59 p. m. Saturday.
The coroner’s office said an autopsy showed he had a fractured leg with a bone inflammation condition and a lung disorder. Sartin had been struck down by a hit-and-run driver at Esplanade and Claiborne.
