    Obituary:
    Sandra Richard
Sandra Widener Richard was a woman of enormous character. Always a friend and caretaker known for her big heart and generosity, she loved doing for others, never expecting anything in return. Her zeal and love for life was infectious as was her smile and laughter. Birthdays never passed without a card or phone call and holidays were always big events. Family and friends were everything to her and her spare time was filled traveling and visiting remote places.
Sandra's early years were spent in Corpus Christi, Texas, working at Maverick Markets and raising the joys of her life, her three children. She later relocated to Houston, Texas, where she worked for Stop and Go and developed many new friendships that lasted through the years. Later Sandra's love of plants and landscape design, soon drove her to start Earthbound Landscaping in Bellaire, Texas, which she owned and operated for 25 years with her then husband, Doug. While Sandra loved landscaping and the people she worked with, she achieved her goal of retirement at age 68 and was able to enjoy some wonderful years in South Carolina with family. But Texas drew her back to Houston in 2010 where she lived for four more years before moving to South Carolina to live her final months.
Sandra continued to be an active mother, grandmother, friend and teacher to all around her until her last day. She left us peacefully on August 17, 2014, with her children and grandchildren by her side at the home of her daughter in Charleston, South Carolina. Of all her many accomplishments, she took the greatest pride in her family.
She was the oldest child of Dr. Joseph Ray Richard & Carmen Richard and the precious granddaughter of Adel Dufilho Richard.
She is survived in death by her sister, Sharron (Peaches) Gonzalez of Dallas, Texas, daughter, Rae Ann (Bill) McCanse of Houston, Texas, son Michael Martinez of Austin, Texas, daughter, Monica (Paul) Mulkey of Charleston, SC, as well as her seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and nephews Randall Gonzalez of Dallas, Texas and Glen Gonzalez of Houston, Texas.
The Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 25th at 5:00 at St Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, Texas 77025. There will be a Celebration of Sandra's Life for friends and family held at Glen and Steve's home, immediately following the Memorial Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the SC Chapter, 4124 Clemson Blvd.- Suite L., Anderson, SC 29621.

LOUIS DEBAILLON, M. D., Ville Platte. Dr. Louis Debaillon is a retired physician of Ville Platte. He is a native of St. Landry parish, born October 4, 1810. His father, Jean Marie Debaillon, was a native of France, born in Paris in 1783. He removed to Louisiana and located in St. Landry parish when a young man, where he became a leading citizen. He represented St. Landry parish in the Legislature for a number of terms. Before he came to America he had served in the French Navy. He became one of the most extensive and wealthy planters of St. Landry parish before his death, in 1838. The mother of Dr. Debaillon died in 1834.

Dr. Louis Debaillon is the oldest of a family of nine children. He was for five years a student of Emmetsburg College, Maryland, and subsequently pursued a course of medicine in the Medical College of Paris, from which institution he received his degree. He began his professional career in St. Landry parish, in 1836, and was engaged in active practice until 1889, when, feeling the weight of his years, he retired from his professional duties.

Dr. Debaillon was married in 1838, to Miss Amy Toledano, a native of Louisiana, born in New Orleans, 1822. They became the parents of twelve children, eight sons and four daughters. The doctor has prospered financially, and owns considerable property in St. Landry parish.

The subject's maternal grandfather, Fontenot, was one of the first settlers of St. Landry parish, and the only man at that time who spoke English. He also spoke the Indian language fluently.

Mrs. Dr. Debaillon died in this parish in 1887. She was a member of the Catholic church.
