    Update: A memorial service for Bob will be held Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Orange, Texas. Please bring a mask.

    Robert Earl (Bob) Hollier, age 75, passed away on May 13, 2020, following difficulties with his heart.

    Bob was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on September 23, 1944, during World War II, but grew up in Port Arthur, Texas. He was graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1963, and afterwards attended Texas A&M on a football scholarship, graduating in 1967 with a B.A. in History, to be followed by receiving an M.A. in History from Lamar University.

    Bob was a history teacher and a coach at Bridge City High School from 1967 until his retirement in 2000. He loved rooting for “his” Aggies and for the Astros. He collected baseball cards and loved playing golf.

    Bob was preceded in death by his younger twin brothers, Ronnie and Donnie Hollier, and by his parents, Ivan and Jean Hollier.

    Bob is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Amelia Votti (Mimi) Hollier; his only son, Robert Foxwood Hollier and his wife Amber, and her children Sierra, Dylan, and Tori and her husband Bradley Gray; his grandson, Gavyn Edward Hollier; his brother-in-law Carl Wood Votti, his wife Lisa, and their sons Carl and Cuyler Votti; his two nephews Ronnie Hollier, Jr., and Bryan Hollier; his three nieces, Lori Ortiz, Jennifer Cardinas and Jaime Hollier.

    Following cremation, he will be interred at the Memorial Garden at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Orange, Texas. A memorial service at St. Paul’s will be tentatively scheduled for late June.

    Contributions in his memory can be made to the Humane Society of Southeast Texas, to the Gary Sinise Veterans Program, to the Shiner’s Hospital for Children, or to the Danny Thomas Research Hospital for Children.

    Deceased Name: Ivan Hollier
    Ivan Hollier, 80, of Port Neches, Texas passed away Thursday evening at Christus St. Mary Hospital. A native of Port Arthur and lifelong resident of the area. He retired from Gulf Oil Corp. after 34 years of service as a Dockman A. He was very active in the labor movement and a longtime member of O.C.A.W. Local 4-23. He served on the board of directors of Gulf Employees Federal Credit Union for several years. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 P.M. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home by Rev. Kevin Sumler. Mass of Christian burial will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Dan Malain and Rev. Kevin Sumler, co-celebrating. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Clayton Thompson. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Hollier, Jr., Bryan Hollier, Robert F. Hollier, Thomas Ortiz, Jay Cardenas and Don Allen Edgerly. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be C.J.     Wana Jean Peters Hollier of Port Neches, Texas and long-time resident of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away in the early morning hours of March 19, 2015, following a short illness.

    She will be reunited with her husband, Ivan Hollier and her twin sons, Ronald and Donald Hollier, who predeceased her.

    Jean was born in Norman, Oklahoma to William Claude Peters and Colombia Fox Peters on October 2, 1925. She had one brother, William Claude Peters, Jr., who was with General George Patton's army in Lauf, Germany, when he was killed in battle in 1945. Jean mourned the loss of her brother all her life.

    When Port Arthur native Ivan Hollier joined the Navy in 1942, he was sent to Gunnery School at Tinker's Air Force Base outside of Norman, Oklahoma where he fell in love at first sight with the lovely and shy Jean Peters. They were married on June 24, 1943 in Jacksonville, Florida. In Sept of 1944, Jean and Ivan celebrated the birth of their first child, Robert Earl Hollier. When the war ended, the three Holliers settled in Port Arthur where they raised their family. The twin sons were born in May, 1949.

    Ivan worked at Gulf Oil Refinery and Jean stayed home to raise the boys. In the early 1950s, Jean, a member of the Church of Christ, converted to Catholicism, joining her husband and three sons. She was a long-time member of Saint James Catholic Church Altar Guild and a Lay Reader; at the time of her death, Jean was a member of Saint Charles Catholic Church. Jean was also a member of the Woman's Auxiliary of OCAW Local1l-23 and she was a volunteer at the precinct polls for decades.

    Jean is survived by her eldest son, Robert and his wife Mimi, their son Robbie and his son Gavyn, by her grandson Ronnie Hollier, Jr., his wife Latorshia and their two children-Reagan and Trey, by her granddaughter Lori Ortiz and her husband Thomas and their two children Kayla and Thomas, Jr., by her grand-daughter Jennifer Cardenas and her husband Jay and their three children Jillian, Jacie and Jude, by her grandson Bryan Hollier, his wife Dene and their three children Aspen, Chase, and Kendall, by her grand-daughter Jaime Hollier and her daughter Addison and by two other children by Ronnie Sr Ryan and Brittany Jean.

    Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home will be the site for the funeral service, conducted by the Reverend Dan Malain, Tuesday, March 24, at 3:pm. Visitation prior to the service will begin at 1pm.

    Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery where she will be entombed next to her beloved husband.

    Pallbearers will be Ronnie Hollier, Jr., Bryan Hollier, Robbie Hollier, Thomas Ortiz, Jay Cardenas and George Wheeteroft.

    Mrs. Didier Hollier, 66, Lived Here 15 Years
    A heart attack early today claimed the life of Mrs. Didier Hollier, 66, who died suddenly at 3 p.m.[?] today at the residence, 1621 Beaumont avenue. A native of Breaux Bridge, La., she had been a resident of Port Arthur since 1915. Her husband is employed by the Texas Company. Surviving besides the husband are two sons, Alfred Hollier of Port Arthur and Ludon Hollier of Redondo Beach, Cal.; five daughters, Mrs. Charles J. Hannan, Miss Rose Hollier, Mrs. Maurice Boudreaux, Mrs. Herbert Patterson and Mrs. Sidney Prince, all of Port Arthur; one brother Charles Guidry, Breaux Bridge; one sister Mrs. Joe[?] Guidry of Cecilia, La., and six grandchildren.
