He was detailed as a Guard for the Reserve Ordnance Train from July 1862 to 1863. Charles was captured at Rappahannock Station, VA on Nov. 7th, 1863, sent to Point Lookout, MD and exchanged on March 15th, 1864. Furloughed to Louisiana, Charles never returned to his command and was considered absent without leave since April 20th, 1864. However, many years later, in a Pension Application, Charles stated that he could not return to his command and that he and 6 to 7 other members of Co. F joined up with Capt. McCrory's command. They were sent to Shreveport and later joined with Gen. Harry T. Hays in Alexandria. They were then sent to Monroe, LA to build boats. Charles was paroled with the rest of the command in Natchitoches, LA on June 6th, 1865. That much shows in his official record. Hollier married Ephra Armond on Oct. 17th, 1868. He died in Opelousas on Oct. 7th, 1932 and is buried in the Old St. Landry Cemetery in Opelousas.
