Services for Quaite M. Tucker, 89, who died Friday, July 28, 2006, at the Lovingston Health Care Center in Roseland, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 31, at Grace Episcopal Church in Roseland with the Rev. Judy Parrish officiating.
Burial will follow in Jonesboro Cemetery under the direction of Byrum-Parr Funeral Home.
Mr. Tucker was born on August 14, 1916 at Broken Bow, Oklahoma, the son of Jack Truman Tucker and Rowena Williams Tucker.
He was a WWII U. S. Coast Guard veteran, serving 18 months in the Pacific. He had worked at the American Cyanamid and retired as a gear cutter from Hermle Black Forest Clocks in Amherst. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry and was a lay reader. He was past president of the Ruritan Club, had been active in Nelson County Day, in many community and civic affairs and was known as the Nelson County "Piano Tuner."
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Paige Dixon Tucker; son Dixon Withers Tucker and his wife Nancy K. Collins of Chesapeake; seven grandchildren, Robert Dixon Tucker of Washington, Walter Lemmon Smith of Arizona, Geoffery Dixon Tucker of New Jersey, Donna Gonzalez, Tina Louise Menard, Penny Menard and Paul Menard.
