Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott, for Ronald "Ron" Clayton Hollier, age 57, who died Friday, December 14, 2012 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas from complications after cancer surgery.
Interment will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Scott.
Reverend Thomas Voorhies, Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Raime Thibodeaux and Alyse Horaist. Giftbearers will be Matthew Horaist and Macie Dugas. Karen Broussard, organist, will sing for the services, "Amazing Grace", "On Eagles' Wings", "Prayer of St. Francis" and "Battle Hymn of the Republic".
Survivors include his two daughters, Ronee J. Simoneaux and her husband, Bryson, and Eryn Hollier; his son, Christopher Hollier and his wife, Christie; the mother of Ron's children, Denise Brown; his current girlfriend, Jenny Guidry Howard; his mother, Mercedes Hollier; brothers, Glenn J. Hollier and wife, Charlotte, Randy L. Hollier and wife, Bobbie; his sisters, Glenda H. Thibodeaux, Lorraine H. Dugas and husband Jack and Josette H. Horaist and husband Chris. Also, his five grandchildren, Jaelyn, Audie, Madeline, Maddy and Gavin and one grandchild to arrive in April, Louis Simoneaux; thirteen nieces and nephews, six great nieces, and one aunt, Lillie M. Meche.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1998, Clayton Hollier; paternal grandparents, Easton and Effie Hollier and maternal grandparents, David and Leona Broussard.
Ron was born on September 16, 1955 in Lafayette, Louisiana and was a lifelong resident. Ronald graduated from Acadiana High School in 1974. He worked his entire career in the oil industry in Louisiana, Texas, Brazil and Africa. Ronald was currently employed by Tripoint in Broussard, Louisiana. Ron was adventurous, courageous, fearless, loyal and witty. He adored his children. Ron loved his family and all of his friends, many of whom are from childhood. He will be dearly missed and thought of every day.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Hollier, Randy Hollier, Christopher Hollier, Justin Hollier, Joshua Hollier and Ryan Thibodeaux.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mark Trahan, Randy Credeur and Bryson Simoneaux.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SCOTT location on Tuesday from 12:00 Noon to 9:00 PM and on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
A Rosary will be prayed Tuesday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home by the Catholic Daughters of America.
Special thanks go out to Dr. Garrett Lynch and Dr. David Baskin and the staff at Baylor Clinic and Methodist Hospital of Houston, Texas for the excellent care and attention given to Ron the last four years. Hollier and his wife, Bobbie of Scott, Lorraine H. Dugas and her husband, Jack of Lafayette, and Josette H. Horaist and her husband, Chris of Houston, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Mercedes B. Hollier of Scott; great grandchildren, Ryan and Raime Thibodeaux, Justin Hollier, Joshua Hollier, and his wife, Danielle, Chris Hollier and his wife, Christie, Ronee? Jo and Eryn Hollier, Amanda and Alayne Hollier, Kristen and Macie Dugas, and Alyse, Matthew, and Joseph Horaist; and her great great grandchildren, Jaelyn Chloe, Cadance and Gracie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Easton Hollier in 1976; her son Clayton Hollier in 1998, her parents, Hypolite Bergeron and Laura Blanchard Bergeron; two infant granddaughters, Claudette Hollier and Penny Hollier; one brother and three sisters.
A lifelong resident of Scott, Louisiana, she was born October 15, 1907, the founding year of Scott. Effie was a dedicated wife and mother who helped on the family farm and later became a cafeteria worker at Scott Middle School and High School for many years. She enjoyed cooking and feeding her family, and everyone who visited, had to sit down and eat. Throughout her life she enjoyed gardening, and always had her yard filled with beautiful flowers. Mrs. Hollier was very independent and mowed her own yard until the age of 95. She also enjoyed sewing and made her own clothes. She sewed many quilts and yo yo dolls for all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the Grand Marshal of Scott Founders Day in 1998, and was also a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Ladies Altar Society.
Pallbearers will be her six grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will be her great grandchildren and her nephews, Hubert Legar, Jr. Percy Bergeron, Ernest Hollier, Haywood Hollier, Emery Clark, Lloyd Hollier, Jr., Johnny Hollier, and Caroll Hollier.
A Rosary will be prayed by the Catholic Daughters of Sts. Peter & Paul Church at Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Scott.

Entombment will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Mausoleum in Scott.
The Most Reverend Michael Jarrell, Bishop Emeritus of Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Reverend Gilbert Dutel and Reverend Gary Schexnayder will Concelebrate. Deacon Art Bakeler will be a server. Lectors will be Raime Thibodeaux, Amanda Griffin, RoneƩ Jo Simoneaux and Eryn Hollier. Giftbearers will be Alyse Horaist, Macie Dugas, Alayne Williams and Kristen Boutte. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "Amazing Grace", "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman", "Halleluia", and "I Can Only Imagine".
She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Glenda H. Thibodeaux, Lorraine H. Dugas and her husband, Jack and Josette H. Horaist and her husband, Chris; two sons, Glenn J. Hollier and his wife, Charlotte and Randy L. Hollier and his wife, Bobbie; one sister, Lillie Mae Meche; Fourteen grandchildren, Ryan, Raime, Justin, Joshua, Chris, Ronee, Eryn, Kristen, Macie, Alyse, Matt, Joe, Amanda, and Alayne; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Leona Richard Broussard; her husband, Clayton Hollier; one son, Ronald C. Hollier; and two infant daughters, Claudette and Penny Hollier.
Mercedes Broussard Hollier was born in Rayne, Louisiana and was a resident of Scott for most of her life. Mrs. Hollier was a dedicated employee of Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Scott for many years. She was a member of many organizations including CFMA (past President), CFMA National Board Member, Krewe of Atlantis (past President and Board Member) and 2016 Queen Hera XIX, Charter Member and former Regent of the Catholic Daughters for 9 years, World Day of Prayer Committee for over 15 years, Faith House supporter and donator, Mae Boudreaux's Prayer Group, La Jummelage Member, Blackie Forrestier Dance Group, and talented seamstress. Mrs. Hollier was a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Community where she served as a lector, taught CCD and was Director of Religious Education for over 33 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed by all.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Thibodeaux, Chris Hollier, Joshua Hollier, Justin Hollier, Matt Horaist and Joe Horaist.
A Christian Vigil will be conducted by Deacon Art Bakeler on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 6:45 PM in Martin & Castille's SCOTT Location, followed by a Rosary recited by the Catholic Daughters at 7:00 PM
The family requests that visitation be observed on Tuesday from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
