    DUFILHO-On Friday, July 19, 1889, at 6:15 o’clock a.m., Palmire Toledano, widow of Henry Dufilho, a native of New Orleans, aged 73 years. The friends and acquaintances of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, which will take place this (Saturday) morning at 10 o’clock from the Church of Notre Dame de Bon Secours, Jackson Street, between Constance and Laurel streets.

    Be it remembered that on this day, to-wit: the twenty-second of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-one, and the seventy-fifth of the Independence of the United States of America, before be, F. M. Crozat, duly commissioned and sworn Recorder of Births and Deaths, in and for the Parish and City of Orleans, personally appeared, Mr. Henry Dufilho, a native of this city, residing at the corner of Esplanade and Good Children streets, in the third municipality of this city, who by these presents declares, that on the sixteenth day of December eighteen hundred and fifty (December 16th, 1850) at five o’clock P.M. at his aforesaid residence, was born a female child named Palmire Dufilho, issue of the legitimate marriage of deponent with Mm. Palmire Toledano, a native of this city.

    Henry Dufilho is Called by Death
    Henry Dufilho, formerly professor of French, English, and Latin, died last night at his residence in Second, near Laurel streets, after an illness of four weeks.
    Prof. Dufilho was born In this city in 1853 of French parentage. He was educated in Springhill College, and after graduating from that institution took up the study of law at Tulane University, graduating from that institution several years later.
    He taught in several of the public schools of the city and at the age of twenty-one was appointed principal of McDonogh School No. 3, which position he held for several years. He resigned from this position and took up the study of law. He was appointed district attorney under Lionel Adams. He served his term and then entered the field of Journalism. He was at one time a member of the staff of The Times-Democrat, and was at different times connected with several of the other local papers.
    Prof. Dufilho married Miss Ida M. Grosch of this city, who, with her three children, Clifton, Gertrude, and Dorcas [Dorris], survive him. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. P. Richardson. Henry D. Richardson and Albert A. Richardson were nephews, and he is also related to Emilien Perrin and John F. Grosch.
    Prof. Dufilho was for many years an intimate friend of the late Warren Easton, and It was through him that he was connected with the public schools. He was a devout Catholic.
    The funeral will be held from his residence, Second, near Laurel streets, at 3:30 p. m., the body will be brought to the Church of the Notre Dame in Jackson avenue and the interment will be in the new St. Louis Cemetery in Esplanade avenue.

    HENRY A. DENNETT, cashier of the Waters-Pierce Oil Company, Dallas, Texas, was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1863, the third of four children born to James and Marie (Dufilho) Dennett, natives of Alabama and Louisiana, and of French descent. The father enlisted in New Orleans, in the Confederate service, and at the close of the war he returned to that city, and was engaged in the wholesale grocery business. In 1873, he came to Marshall, Texas, where he remained but a short time, and his death occurred in Aberdeen, Mississippi, in 1888; the mother is still living, residing in Belton.
    Henry A., our subject, was reared in the city of New Orleans, until his removal to Marshall, Texas, where he received his education. His first work was with the Texas Pacific Railroad Company, as expense bill clerk, at Fort Worth, and he remained with that company from 1879 to 1883, after which he went to Waco, in the employ of Missouri, Kansas & Texas Railroad, as bill clerk. He was thus engaged until after coining to Dallas, when he engaged with the Waters-Pierce Oil Company. He has full charge of the business during the absence of Mr. William Grice, manager of the company, having thirteen men under his supervision. Mr. Dennett is an earnest advocate of the Democratic party, and socially is Deputy Grand Chancellor of Dallas Lodge. No. 70, K. of P., and also Major of Texas regiment, Uniformed Rank, is Grand Prophet in the order of the Orient Sinbad, and is an active worker in both orders.
    He was married in Dallas, Texas, in May, 1886, to Jettie Williamson, a native of this State, and a daughter of James D. and Della (Canard) Williamson, natives of Tennessee. The parents came by wagon to Dallas, where they both still reside. Mr. and Mrs. Dennett have two children,-Wilson J. and Henry A.

    Richardson, Henry Dufilho, general insurance, and head of the Crescent Adjustment & Inspection Co., New Orleans, was born at Opelousas, St. Landry parish. La., March 17, 1877. He is a descendant, in the 5th generation, from Don Manuel Toledano, who, in turn, was a descendant from King Charles V. of Spain. The full name of the Toledano family formerly was Toledano y Veuzuala, but the latter portion of the name, in time, was dropped as a matter of convenience, leaving the family name as it is used at this time, Toledano.

    This family originally came from Toledo, Spain, but Don Manuel resided in Madrid. He married Jo.sephine De Montanaire. a lady of noble birth. Mr. and Mrs. Don Manuel Toledano became the parents of Christobal Toledano, who married Baselise Barbe, of Toulouse, France. This latter couple became the parents of Palmere Toledano who married Henry Dufilho. Mr. and Mrs. Dufilho were the father and mother of Palmere Dufilho, who married John T. Richardson, son of Capt. Wm. Richardson of the Royal Naval Reserves, Liverpool, Eng., and father of the subject of this sketch. H. D. Richardson obtained his early education at the Jesuit's college, which he attended until 12 years of age, when he left school and became an employee of the Natural Premium Life Assurance society. After 1 year here, he went to Texas, but within a short time returned home and entered the service of the Sun Insurance Co. as an office boy, remaining with this company 12 years.

    Then, at the age of 25 years, he resigned from the service of the Sun Insurance Co. to accept a position as New Orleans manager and special agent for the German Insurance Co. of Freeport, III. He held this position 2 years, and then became associated with the Hibernia Insurance Co., where he remained another 2 years, following which he launched into business on his own account as a general insurance agent, also operating the Crescent Adjustment & Inspection Co., the business of which is to adjust fire losses. Mr. Richardson is a Jesuit alumnus, a member of the Chess, Checkers, and Whist club, the Young Men's Gymnastic club, the Southern Yacht club and the Hoo-Hoo fraternity. He has one sister, Loyola Eugene, now the wife of Dr. Pierre Leonce Thibaut, and two brothers, J. W. A. Richardson, and Camille E. Richardson.

    TULLER FUNERAL RITES ARE HELD
    Long Illness Is Fatal to Civic, Social Leader
    Private funeral services were held Sunday from the House of Bultman, 3338 St. Charles, for Mrs. Loyola E. Richardson Thibaut Tuller,- 85, former New Orleans civic and social leader. The Rev. Edmund J. Cannon, C.M., of St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church officiated at the services. Interment was in Hope Mausoleum.
    Mrs. Tuller died Friday morning at Taylor House, 1421 General Taylor, following a prolonged illness.
    Born in Mobile, Ala., on July 31, 1882, Mrs. Tuller spent most of her life in New Orleans.
    Mrs. Tuller, by first marriage, was the wife of the late Dr. Pierre Leonce Thibaut Sr., a prominent New Orleans physician and chief of staff of Hotel Dieu Hospital. He died in 1933. Her second marriage was to the late Dr. Charles S. Tuller, one of the founders of the Loyola University School of Dentistry and former president of the Louisiana State Dental Association. He died in 1944.
    Mrs. Tuller was a former member of the Orleans Club and the Southern Yacht Club. She resided at 5216 Pitt.
    Her only son, the late Pierre L. Thibaut Jr:, died last May. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Thibaut Tuller, of New Orleans, two grandsons and five great-grandchildren.
    Active pallbearers were: Dr. P. L. Thibaut Brian, A. Morgan Brian, James Thibaut III, William McIntyre, Wade Henry and Dan F. Hunter. Honorary pallbearers included: William N. Tuller, C. E. Richardson Jr. and Dr. Sidney Jacobs.

    Mother, However, Says Victim Was Despondent; Had Threatened Life
    With a gunshot wound in her left side, Miss Doris Dufilho of 929 Aline street, staggered to the sidewalk and collapsed in the arms of a neighbor shortly after noon Wednesday. She is in Charity Hospital believed to be mortally wounded.
    Mrs. Noe Miller, of 925 Aline street, and John Mahne, of 3502 Laurel street, heard the shot and dashed to the Dufilho house in time to see her leave the front of the house with blood streaming down her clothes.
    She Denies Shooting
    In terrible pain at the hospital, she talked hazily to police officials, often contradicting herself.
    Ashamed that her mother works for a living, she urged the police officials not to mention it.
    “It was not suicide,” she declared. “I don’t know who shot me.”
    They questioned her further and she answered weakly. They were unable to gain a confession that she shot herself.
    “Did you have a pistol?” they asked her.
    “Yes,” she said. “I had one in the house, but I didn’t shoot myself. I don’t know who did it. I am in so much pain I hardly know what I’m saying.”
    Mother Says Suicide
    Captain Theodore Ray helped to lift her into the ambulance.
    “Who shot you?” he asked her.
    “I don’t know,” she told him.
    “Did you shoot yourself?” she was asked.
    “No,” she said.
    Then the ambulance drove away to the Charity Hospital. At first physicians refused to allow the police to talk with her, saying that it might cost her life. The bullet from a .38 caliber pistol entered her left breast and passed through her body near the heart.
    Despite her daughter’s denials, the mother, Mrs. Ida Dufilho, who was notified of the tragedy while she was at work at the Naval Station, said Doris often had threatened to kill herself and had told her recently that she had a pistol.
    “It was suicide,” said the mother, “I feel sure of that.”
    Asked for a motive, the mother said the girl had appeared to be melancholy for a long time, although she had had no love disappointment and had not been ill.
    Was Pretty Girl
    “Just melancholy,” she said.
    Doris Dufilho was very proud and appeared to feel ashamed that her mother was forced to earn a living. It is believed this may have worn on her mind.
    The sister, Gertude Dufilho, also is employed. Doris is a clerk for the express department of the Southern Railway at the Terminal Station. She went home about 12 o’clock from her office and was to have returned at [?] o’clock.
    There was no one in the house at the time of the shooting, as far as could be ascertained. Neighbors who heard the shot saw no one leave.
    Doris Dufilho is an exceptionally pretty girl of 20 years.

    DUFILHO Carleton L. ""Duke'' Dufilho, a retired expediter for Lusk Shipping Co., passed on Friday, March 2, 2007 at Chateau Living Center. He was 92. Mr. Dufilho was born in New Orleans and lived in Kenner for the past 64 years. He is a veteran of WWII, and proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Service. Beloved husband of Mary Lovetro Dufilho. Father of Linda Dufilho Maturano. Father-in-law of Joseph Maturano. Grandfather of Kerri Lang, (husband, Adam) and Brad Derbes. Great-grandfather of Mason and Tyler Lang and Alexis Derbes. Relatives and friends of the family, also members of Ed Stoulig, Sr. Council No. 3528 K. of C., East Jefferson Italian American Society, and Rivertown Chapter No. 4090 A.A.R.P. are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at L.
