Funeral services for Mr. Leo Fontenot, 74, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in Evangeline Memorial Cemetery in Ville Platte.The Rev. David Broussard will conduct the services.
Mr. Fontenot, a resident of Opelousas, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, March 1, 1998, in Opelousas General Hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. Mr. Fontenot was President and General Manager of the family operated business Hollier Implements located in Opelousas, Eunice, Kinder and Ville Platte.
He was a past president of Deep South Farm Equipment Association and was a charter board of director of South Land Bank in Opelousas. Mr. Fontenot was on the Prairie Ronde Water System Board and the St. Landry Parish Drainage Board. He was a member of the Woodman of the
World, the Knights of Columbus Council 3409 in Opelousas and was an usher for Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Fenrick and Betty Fontenot of Opelousas, and Daniel and Glenda Benny of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Brent Fontenot of Opelousas; two brothers, Walter Fontenot and Otis Fontenot, both of Ville Platte;
13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Fontenot was preceded in death by his parents, Alcibade and Alma Tate Fontenot; and his wife, Dorothy Hollier Fontenot in July 1997.
Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the Old Sunset Road in Opelousas is in charge of
arrangements.

The record shows that Edese Hollier married Mercedes Couvillion some time prior to 1925, and that as a result of that union two children were born: James Clifton Hollier and Dorothy Hollier (now the wife of Leo Fontenot). Mrs. Mercedes Couvillion Hollier died in 1935, and in June, 1936, Edese Hollier married the plaintiff in this suit, Mrs. Dea Aucoin Hollier. No children were born of this second marriage.
James Clifton Hollier, one of the children of Edese Hollier, died in 1957, leaving as his sole survivor his widow, now Mrs. Betty Jane Soileau Guillory, and a son, Joseph Drake Hollier, who was born in 1956. Mrs. Guillory has been appointed as the natural tutrix of her minor son.
