Longtime Sulphur restaurateur dies

SULPHUR, LA (KPLC) -
Longtime Sulphur resident and restaurant owner Wayne Hollier died Friday.
"Sulphur just lost a true pillar of the community. He and Marie succeeded in business the old fashioned way ie, hard work and quality products. He never took the customer for granted. It was an honor to know Wayne and Marie from the lean times through their great successes. One thing remained constant with both of them. They greeted everyone with a smile. They appreciated the customer and the customer felt that. Honest, polite, hard working, and proud of their roots in Sulphur. Prayers of thanksgiving for the blessing that Wayne was to all who came his way. We share in the Hollier family's loss," said friend and customer Ron Hayes
The family has been working side by side since 1980. They started out in a small building on US 90 land then moved the business to a plant on E. Napoleon Street that sold boudin, sausage, jambalaya, seasoning, and other meat items. They sold the plant and opened Hollier’s Cajun Kitchen in 1995.
Raquel Chaline Ardoin, Hollier's employee, said Hollier treated all his employees like family.
"They don't make human beings like him anymore and I am honored to work for them," she said. "The world could use more of their sincerity, generosity. .and compassion"
