Numa Deville Passes Away
Friends are grieved to learn of the death of Numa Deville, 67, well known resident who resided near Opelousas. He died Thursday morning at a Ville Platte hospital following an illness of several weeks.
Lafond and Son Funeral Home have charge of the arrangements and services were to be held Friday morning at 9:45 o’clock at the Catholic Church here in Opelousas with Father Marin and Father Colliard officiating. Woodmen of the World will also hold services at the cemetery.
Pallbearers were: James St. Amand, Sidney Ducharme, Lawrence LaSalle, Roger Dufilho, L. Austin Fontenot, Sr., and Lawrence Ledoux.
Mr. Deville owned and operated a store on the Opelousas Ville Platte highway.
He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Amelia St. Amand; a son Etienne Earl Deville of Addis, La.; a daughter. Mrs. G. E. Kirkpatrick of Columbia, Miss; a brother. Oscar Deville, Opelousas and the following half-brothers and half-sisters: Raymond and Gussie Deville, Westlake, Kenny and Gaby Deville, Sulphur; Lamar and Russel Deville, Vinton; Alexander Deville. Port Barre; Mrs. Tom Bihm Prairie Ronde; Mrs. August Miller and Mrs. M. Miller, Elton; Mrs. Cyrus Dupre, Eunice; Mrs. Lawrence Thibodeaux, Iowa, and Mrs. Lane Reed, Vinton.
He is also survived by three grandchildren.
