John Harry Royer
Funeral services were held at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at the St. Basil Church in Judice for John Harry Royer, 75, who died Monday, April 19, 2004, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Rev. Henry J. Broussard, Pastor of St. Basil Church in Scott, was the celebrant of the Mass and conducted the funeral services.
The Rite of Committal took place at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Royer, the son of the late Cloupha Royer and the former Alesia Alleman, was a native of Branch and a resident of Duson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Royer was presently employed by Winn Dixie part-time. He also worked in the oilfield for over 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Azelie Hollier Royer of Duson; two daughters, Roxanne Marie Royer and friend Victor K. Garcia of Duson, and Rachel Ann Broussard and fiancé’ Paul LeBlanc of Duson; two sons, John Karl Royer and wife Cathy Lemmons of Bridge City, Texas, and James Rickey Royer and wife Patsy Matte of Lawrenceville, Ga.; eleven grandchildren, Summer Royer, Dusty Royer, Chelse Royer, Chad Royer, Bridgett Royer, Dina Broussard, Desi Broussard, Demi Broussard, Davin Broussard, Mandi Lemmons, and Tresia Lemmons; and two sisters, Alice Granger of Scott, and Lenora Wingatte of Rayne.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Pete Wedis Royer, Clifton Royer, Uday Royer; and three sisters, Eva Bouillion, Purnice Thibodeaux, and Eula Royer.
The family was present to receive friends for a recital of the Rosary at 7 p.m.
Pallbearers were John Karl Royer, James Rickey Royer, Dusty Royer, Rickey Chad Royer, Dennis Peterson, Galyn Hubbard, Sr., John W. Hollier, and Ronnie Granger.
Honorary pallbearers were Davin Broussard, Ralph Hogan, and Keith Broussard.
Delhomme Funeral Home, 705 Marie Street, Scott, was in charge of all funeral arrangements.
