Ervin Joseph Castille
JANUARY 2, 1911 – OCTOBER 10, 2003
Ervin Joseph Castille Aged 92 years, 9 months, born in Opelousas, LA on January 2, 1911, the only son of Michel Rene Castille and Louise St. Amand. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Sibley Castille. Ervin graduated from Cumberland University, Lebanon, TN with an J.D. degree and was soon licensed to practice Law in Texas. He served in the US Army during WWII, as a Rail Transportation Officer in the 7th Army, with the rank of Major. He received the Bronze Star Medal; European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign Medals with 4 Bronze Stars and Bronze Arrowhead Distinguished Unit Badge. He graduated from Louisiana Polytechnic University, in Ruston, LA.with a B.S. in Accounting. He attended University of Texas in Austin to obtain a M.B.A. in Accounting, and was a CPA. Mr. Castille was Director of Field Operations for the State Comptrollers Office under Robert S. Calvert. He retired from that position in 1975. His daughter, Dr. Virginia Castille Murray and son-in-law Dr. Dennis R. Murray; and his granddaughters, Sandra E. Murray and Elizabeth A. Murray, survive Mr. Castille. Mr. Castille was a resident of Austin since 1952, before moving to Conroe, TX in 2001. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 13th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14th at the Assumption Mausoleum Chapel with burial following in the Assumption Cemetery. Lillian Virginia Sibley Castille, 83, of Conroe, Texas died on July 6, 2003. She was born on August 20, 1919, in Leesville, La. (Vernon Parish), to Gilbert Eli Sibley and Beulah Holton. Mrs. Castille graduated from Leesville High School and then attended Business College in Shreveport, La. She was employed by the Internal Revenue Service and retired from the General Services Administration. Mrs. Castille was a member of William B. Travis chapter, Daughters of the Republic of Texas; Balcones chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution; and the Oliver Hazard Perry chapter, National Society of the Daughters of 1812. She attended St. Louis Catholic Church and volunteered with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She is preceded in death by her parents; Gilbert Eli Sibley and Beulah Holton, and by brothers; Gilbert Lynell Sibley and Don Roscoe Sibley. She is survived by her husband, Ervin Joseph Castille; daughter and son-in-law, Virginia Castille Murray and Dennis Richard Murray; granddaughters, Sandra Elaine Murray and Elizabeth Anne Murray all of Conroe, Texas; sister, Daisye Maxine S. McMasters of Phoenix, Arizona; sister-in-laws, Mary Jane Robinette Sibley and Janet Mahlin Sibley of Shreveport, La.; nieces and nephews, John J. McMasters, Jr., Gilbert Lynell Sibley, Jr., Michelle M. McLaughlin, Don Arthur Sibley, Christopher Eli Sibley, and Shannon McMasters. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 9th, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 10, 2003 at Assumption Mausoleum Chapel.
