Reo was a native of Duson, he lived in Lafayette for 26 years and moved to Carencro in 1998 until his death. He was an extremely astute and successful businessman, primarily because he lived his life with one philosophy, "There is no such thing as can't". A philosophy he engrained in all of his children and all whom he associated with.
Reo was a veteran of the military, having served in the U. S. Navy during World War II for 4 years serving 18 months in the South Pacific as an Aviation Machinist's Mate. He was a member of the Lafayette VFW Post #9822 and the American Legion Post #0401.
After his discharge from the U. S. Navy in 1945, he was owner/operator of Reo Lagneaux's Country Grocery and a rice and cattle farmer. Thereafter he received a machinist certification from the Southwest Voc/Tech school and was employed by LA Oilfield Rentals (L.O.R.) from 1960-1970 as a machinist and foreman. From 1970 until his retirement he was the owner/operator of the "Four Seasons Lodge" on Johnston Street and West Congress.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Lagneaux; one stepdaughter, Melissia Menard and her life partner, David Breaux; two daughters, Barbara "Bobbie" Emery and her husband, Leslie; Sue Ellen Lagneaux; two sons, Robert "Bob" Lagneaux and his wife Betty; Gerald "Jerry" Lagneaux and his wife, Debbie; three step-grandchildren, Dustin, Dillon and Victoria Breaux; one grandson, Chris; three granddaughters, Shanna Turner and her husband, Korey; Carmen Bourque and her husband, Todd; and Jaime` Lagneaux Brashier. Reo is also survived by two great grandchildren, Dain Turner and Brendon Lagneaux; four sisters, Etta Daigle, Bertha Credeur, Verna Judice, Shirley Judice and her husband, Clyde.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ovey and Laurance Hollier Lagneaux; four brothers, R. J., Dallas, Dave and Larry; one sister, Ena Bernard; one grandson, Tommy Emery; and three brothers-in-law, Curtis Daigle, Claby Credeur and Ivy Judice.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Sunday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Monday from 8:00 am to service time.
Pallbearers will be Bob Lagneaux, Jerry Lagneaux, Raywood Lagneaux, Ronnie Credeur, Tommy Bernard and Shane LeBlanc. Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Breaux, Dillon Breaux, Todd Bourque and Korey Turner.
