Eddie Hebert
SCOTT — Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott for Eddie Hebert, 91, who died at 2:33 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, in the Acadiana Rehabilitation Hospital in Lafayette.
Interment was in the Abshire Cemetery in Kaplan.
The Rev. Mark Melancon, associate pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church of Scott, was the celebrant of the funeral Mass and conducted the funeral services.
Charlotte Jopling, soloist, accompanied on the organ by Phyllis Simar, sang for the funeral services, “Amazing Grace”, “Notre Pere”, “J’irai la vour un jour” and “He Will Never Walk Alone”.
A native of Kaplan and a resident of Duson for 43 years, Mr. Hebert was a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Community in Scott.
He was an avid hunter and loved the French music. Mr. Hebert was a sheep and chicken farmer.
Survivors include three daughters, Bernice Comeaux and her husband, Eugene, of Scott, Ruby Comeaux and her husband, Kermit, of Lafayette, and Mary Blaze and her husband, David, of Katy, Texas; four sons, Preston Hebert and his wife, Merleen, of Scott, Presley Hebert and his wife, “Terri” Theresa, of Youngsville, Dalton Hebert and his wife, Lena, of Lafayette, and Leroy Hebert and his wife, Shella, of Carencro; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Begnaud, of Cypress Island; and two brothers, Adlar Hebert, of Rayne, and Anthony Hebert, of Kaplan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Hollier Hebert; his parents, Philbert and Helena Abshire Hebert; three sisters, Emedyia Hebert, Eda Landry and Ida Nunez; three brothers, Whitney Hebert, Sidney Hebert and A.J. Hebert; one grandson, Jerry Comeaux; and one great-grandson, Brennam Hebert.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. Friday in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home of Scott by the St. Edmond’s Ladies Altar Society.
Visiting hours were observed from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Friday and continue from 8 a.m. Saturday until time of the funeral services.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Hebert, Bradley Hebert, Ryan Hebert, Kevin Hebert, Michael Hebert, Kevin Comeaux, Dudley Comeaux and Shallen Hebert.
Arrangements were entrusted to Martin & Castille Funeral Home Inc. of Scott.
