PORT ARTHUR — Eula Hollier DeCuir, 87, a loving wife, devoted mother, and loyal friend passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 25, 2010.
Eula was born on June 6, 1922 in Port Arthur, Texas to Ramey and Evia Gary Hollier. She worked for Dryden’s in the shoe department and retired as a homemaker. She was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed sewing, cooking and spending time with her family. Eula was a charter member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Arthur and a volunteer with both Christus St. Mary’s Pink Ladies organization and the Hospitality House.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Whitney Hollier, Wedis Hollier, Sidney Hollier and sister Nelta Tauzin.
Survivors to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 69 years, Denis S. (Dan) DeCuir Sr.; three children, Geraldine Landry and husband Theodore of Bridge City, Texas, Denis S. (Danny) DeCuir Jr. and wife Rosa of Friendswood, Texas, and Linda McFadden and husband Murphy of Lumberton, Texas. She is also survived by one sister, Eunice Tauzin Harris, seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Landry and wife Debra, Richard Landry and wife Bethany, Laurie Landry, Brian DeCuir and wife Erin, Stacy Boullion and husband Brad, Clint DeCuir and wife Melissa, Ashley DeCuir, and seven great grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will take place, Thursday, May 27th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a wake service to be held at 6 P.M. at Clayton- Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 4600 Procter, Port Arthur, TX 77642.

Whitney Hollier, 55, of 2888 61st street, a Gulf Oil employee, died today at 3:25 a.m. in St. Mary’s hospital where he had been a patient since Aug. 7.
Rosary will be recited tonight at 7 o’clock in the Grammier-Oberle 39th Street Funeral home chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Little Flower of Jesus Catholic church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial park.
Mr. Hollier. a native of Abbeville. La., had been a Port Arthur resident 51 years. He was a 27-year employee of Gulf Oil and was a carpenter in the refinery’s Shops and Crafts department at the time of his death.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 3195, Little Flower of Jesus church and the Holy Name society. He was an usher in the church and was a member of OCAW Local 4-23.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mildred Hollier; and one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Bertrand, both of Port Arthur; three sisters Mrs. Eunice Tauzin and Mrs. Eula DeCuir. both of Port Arthur, and Mrs. Nelta Tauzin of Groves; two brothers, W. J. Hollier of Nederland and Sidney Hollier of Groves; and three grandchildren.
