LAVERGNE, CECILE HOLLIER Funeral service for Cecile Hollier Lavergne will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas. Burial in the St. Landry Cemetery. The Rev. Gene Tremie will conduct the service. The family requests visitation at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home, 2845 S. Union St., Opelousas, be observed from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday and after 8 a.m. Monday. A rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Sunday. Mrs. Lavergne, 96, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Lane Memorial Hospital in Zachary at 4 p.m. Survivors include her two sons, Joseph Russell Lavergne and wife Maizie of Baker and Rodney J. Lavergne and wife Kay of Zachary; three daughters-in-law, Joanne Lavergne of Plaisance, Dorothy Lavergne of Texas and Ella Mae Doga of Church Point; a son-in-law, Ted Spell of New Iberia; two sisters, Bertha Soileau of Sunset and Mae Moore of Lafayette; 14 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Russell Lavergne; two sons, Jake and Hubert Lavergne; two daughters, Barbara Lavergne and Shirley Spell; her parents, Frederick and Marie Hollier; four brothers and three sisters. Pallbearers will be Darrelle, Mike, Matt, Stephen and Jake Lavergne, Jr., and Matthew Courville.
