Death: Jan. 24, 2010

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
George was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran who flew F6F Hellcat fighter planes off the carrier USS Hancock in the Pacific. After working many years in the petrochemical industry, in retirement he sang and told stories with the "Agin' Cajuns" choir of First Baptist Church of Sulphur, where he also served as a deacon for many years. George was a graduate of Sulphur High School, McNeese Jr. College and LSU, where he even attended medical school for a time.
He loved gardening, hunting, fishing, and being a grandpa and great-grandpa. He was a wonderful storyteller, whether it was about his flying days, Cajun jokes, his latest fish tale, local history talks for schoolchildren, or tales made up for his great-granddaughter about a dog named "Butter."
His stories, singular personality and generous spirit live on in his family's and friends' hearts.
(George was my dad. If you'd like to read more about him, I wrote a blog post here.)
