Linez James Hollier

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Melancon Funeral Home in Carencro for Linez James Hollier, age 64, who passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at LSU HSC University Medical Center in Lafayette after losing his battle to cancer.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. The Rev. Tom Voorhies, pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott, will officiate at the services.
Mr. Hollier was born February 8, 1947 in Cankton, the son of Elie and Emaline Hollier. He was the youngest of four children. Mr. Hollier was a well-respected butcher by trade known by many in the community. He was best known as the original owner of the Best Stop Supermarket in Scott. Mr. Hollier was retired and a resident of Butte Larose at the time of his death.
Survivors include two sons, Shayne Hollier (Stacey) of Butte Larose and Shawn Hollier (Dina Matte) of Rayne; two daughters, Sonya Kohn (Steve) of Covington and Samantha Thompson (Scott) of Katy, TX; thirteen grandchildren, Dylan Hollier, Hanna Hollier, Savanna Hollier, Kristi Benson (Charlie), Lauren Hebert, Layla Kohn (Jimmy McIntosh), Danielle Kohn, Eleni Guidry, Emily Thompson, Drew Thompson, Sidney Thompson, Hailey Matte and Allie Matte; three great grandchildren, Chaisse Benson, Alyssa Benson and Hayden McIntosh; and two brothers, Calvin Hollier (Barbara) and Caffery Hollier (Betty) all of Rayne.
He was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-four years, Rosa Nell Cormier Hollier; his parents, Elie Hollier and the former Emaline Jagneaux; and one sister, Theresa Stelly.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Thursday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Friday.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Hollier, Lane Cormier, Dylan Hollier, Tony Hollier, Wayne Hollier and Charlie Benson.
The Hollier family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of LSU HSC University Medical Center and his daughter-in-law, Stacey Hollier, for all her countless hours of aid to him.
