OPELOUSAS — Funeral services for John Felix Dezauche, who died Friday and who is credited with launching the Louisiana sweet potato industry, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the Louisiana Memorial Methodist Church.
The 80-year-old Dezauche died at 9 p.m. Friday at his home here. He was a native of Thibodaux.
Interment will be in Belle Vue Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, the former Miriam Thom of Opelousas; one daughter, Miss Miriam (Juba) Dezauche of Opelousas; one brother, Louis Dezauche of Grand Bay, Ala.; three sisters, Mrs. H. M. Gordon of Opelousas, Mrs. Henry Miller of Jennings and Mrs. Cliff Dejean of Plaquemine, and two grandchildren.
