A well-known maintenance supervisor at Opelousas High School died Wednesday afternoon of an apparent heart attack while inspecting a leak in the roof. According to school board officials, Ophey Hollier, 60. Opelousas, died about 2 p.m. at the school and was pronounced dead shortly after 3 p.m. by Dr. W.G. Owen, acting for parish coroner Dr. A.E. Williams who was in surgery, firemen said. Hollier was reportedly on the roof alone at the time he suffered the apparent heart attack. A second worker who was on the roof with him had climbed down shortly before Hollier died. Fire District No. 3 units were dispatched to the school property at 1:54 p.m. Wednesday and brought Hollier down from the roof of the building. Funeral services for Hollier will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin s Funeral Home of Opelousas. A rosary will be said at the funeral home at 8 p.m. today. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Louisiana School Bus Operators Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Louise Marie Viviano in November, 1974. A native of Arnaudville, he was the son of the late Mentor and Oscar Lee Hollier. He had been maintenance supervisor at Opelousas High School for the past 11 years and was employed part-time by Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. He is survived by one brother, Aristile Hollier, Lafayette, and one sister, Mrs. Moise (Tevese) Angelle, Scott.
