Richard Peter Defillo, III was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 4, 2010 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was the son of Rose Perryman and Richard Peter Defillo, Jr. Step-son of Letitia Defillo. Richard was a talented carpenter by trade and a licensed electrician. He attended St. Peter Claver Catholic Church and John McDonald High School in New Orleans, LA. He served his country by enlisting in the Navy in 1969 and proudly served his country in Vietnam receiving three medals of honor.
He leaves to cherish his memories and fulfill his legacy 5 children: Rachelle S. Defillo, Bisa Defillo Rodriguez, Dr. Nakia C. Hayes, Richard Spot and Matthew Defillo; 7 grandchildren: Darrin, Jerminee, Raishad, Joshua, Dyson, Devin, Daija; long-time companion Annettte E. Webster; sisters: Christine, Charmaine and Wanda; 7 brothers: Alonzo, Terrell, Sherman, Marlon, Brent, Shawn, and Gary Defillo; Stepbrother, Curtis Perryman and stepsister, Jean Perryman. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, in-laws and 2 former wives, Cheryl Defillo and Veronica Defillo. He was preceded in death by his step-father Harry Perryman; grandparents: Alice and Richard Defillo Sr., Norma Landry Howard; and brother, Robert Clement Campo, Jr.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1923 St. Phillip St., on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 10:30am.
