3603 PORT ARTHUR - Eula Hollier DeCuir, 87, a loving wife, devoted mother, and loyal friend passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 25, 2010.

Eula was born on June 6, 1922 in Port Arthur, Texas to Ramey and Evia Gary Hollier. She worked for Dryden’s in the shoe department and retired as a homemaker. She was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed sewing, cooking and spending time with her family. Eula was a charter member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Arthur and a volunteer with both Christus St. Mary’s Pink Ladies organization and the Hospitality House.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Whitney Hollier, Wedis Hollier, Sidney Hollier and sister Nelta Tauzin.

Survivors to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 69 years, Denis S. (Dan) DeCuir Sr.; three children, Geraldine Landry and husband Theodore of Bridge City, Texas, Denis S. (Danny) DeCuir Jr. and wife Rosa of Friendswood, Texas, and Linda McFadden and husband Murphy of Lumberton, Texas. She is also survived by one sister, Eunice Tauzin Harris, seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Landry and wife Debra, Richard Landry and wife Bethany, Laurie Landry, Brian DeCuir and wife Erin, Stacy Boullion and husband Brad, Clint DeCuir and wife Melissa, Ashley DeCuir, and seven great grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends will take place, Thursday, May 27th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a wake service to be held at 6 P.M. at Clayton- Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 4600 Procter, Port Arthur, TX 77642.

(from the book John Lee, by Sarah Marsh Lee, Norwich, 1878, p. 135). Preserved married his first wife Tabitha Lee on October 23, 1701. Tabitha was a step-daughter to Jedediah Strong, Preserved's father. They migrated to Lebanon, Connecticut about 1709; after 1730 they lived in Coventry, where Preserved served on the board of selectmen in 1730, '31, '34, and '35. 3617 President of Hotel Dieu Staff is Dead

New Orleans, June 15-Funeral services will be conducted here today for Dr. P. Leonce Thibaut, 57, president of the Hotel Dieu staff, who died at his home yesterday. Dr. Thibaut was a veteran of the Spanish-American war. He was widely known as a general practitioner and was a member of a number of social organizations. His widow, a ton and daughter, and other relatives survive.

PUBLIC SALE

ON the 25th of January 1813, will be sold at public auction on the spot. A valuable Sugar Plantation, situated in the said parish on the left bank of the river, ten leagues above New Orleans measuring 15 arpents fronting the Mississippi by the ordinary depth of double concession for six arpents only out of the said 15, the upper boundary of which is contiguous to the plantation of Mr. Louis Blanchard and Madam widow Glapion and the lower to that of Mr. Francois Delhomer. The plantation offered for sale belongs to the heirs of the late Madam widow Trepagnier and is too advantageously know to require a more minute description and will be sold such as it stands with all its dependencies, right, usages, thralldoms, & slaves, cattle, and husbandry implements.

The heirs retain for themselves the enjoyment of the cisterns and purgerie during two months from the time which the purchaser will take possession of the said plantation.

Conditions: one third on the 1st of March 1814, the second third on the 1st of March 1815, and the last third on the 1st of March 1816, in approved notes satisfactorily endorsed with special mortgage on the premises until final payment.

On the said plantation stands a dwelling house which privately belongs to one of the heirs and it is expressly agreed between them that the purchaser shall be bound to pay him the amount of its value which has been brought accordingly to the inventory to a sum of 950 dollars, the amount of which will be deducted from the price of the said plantation.

The purchaser will find on the said plantation a sufficient quantity of plants of sugar canes to plant at least one hundred arpents. The slaves will be sold at one and two years credit in approved endorsed notes with special mortgage. The cattle such as oxen, horses, cows, 60 sheep and the husbandry implements will be sold at one year credit in approved and endorsed notes.

Lafayette - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Cemetery in Opelousas.

Reverend Susan Ferguson, Associate Pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church in Lafayette will conduct the funeral services.

Robert Perry Walker, Jr. passed away at the age of 88 peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2017 in Lafayette, LA. R.P., as he was affectionately known, was born October 19, 1928, in Opelousas, LA, the son of Elmira Devillier and Robert Perry Walker, Sr. He was also raised by his loving stepmother Elva McKinney. R.P. graduated from Opelousas High School at the age of 16 and SLI in 1947, at the age of 19, in Business Administration.

He served in the US National Guard from 1948-1955. He married the love of his life, Myrna Mae Bruchhaus, on September 27, 1959, recently celebrating their 58th anniversary. They lived in Opelousas, LA, Lafayette, LA, and Clearwater, FL,where he ran a variety of successful businesses and raised four children. He was an active member of the Rotary Club South, of Lafayette and Asbury United Methodist Church.

R.P. was a wonderful father, grandfather, friend, and role model to those who knew and loved him. He enjoyed grilling, fishing, telling stories, and throwing parties.

He is survived by his wife, Myrna Walker; his son Perry Walker and wife Chantel; his daughters Karen Runnels and husband John, Phyllis Cruse and husband Matt, Toni Miller and husband Rick; ten grandchildren, Drew Stokes, Erik Runnels, Chandler Miller, Emily Housni, Meleah Kimball, Cpl. Michael Walker, Zachary Walker, Mallory Walker, Connor Cruse, and Courtney Cruse; two brothers Herbert Walker and wife Sandra and Charlie McKinney.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Perry Walker, Sr., Elmira Devillier; stepmother Elva McKinney; and sister, Vera Ruth Gilmore.

His kindness will live in our hearts, his advice will guide our actions, and his stories will be told for generations.

Pallbearers will be Erik Runnels, Chandler Miller, Zachary Walker, Rick Miller, Wesley Walker, and Greg Brown.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Matt Cruse, John Runnels, and Drew Stokes.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Friday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

Memorial contributions can be made in Mr. R.P. Walker, Jr.'s name to Asbury United Methodist Church, 101 Live Oak Drive, Lafayette, LA 70503.

A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Walker family to Dr. Kemp Coreil and his loving caregivers Shelia Istre, Brenda James, and Delores Babineaux. They would also like to thank all the staff at The Blake of Lafayette, Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, and The Carpenter House of Lafayette.

Almaric II
RALPH DE SAINT-AMAND of Bedford, England was born in 1215, the same year his father joined the Magna Carta. He was named after his father's uncle, Ralph de Verdon. Ralph married Asceline de Albini (Daubeny) of Caynho, Beds in June 1234. Asceline was the granddaughter of the Baron of Caynho and daughter of Robert de Albini. Ralph was in overseas service for Henry III in 1242 and served the King of Scotland or Wales in 1244. In 1241 he was paid 25 pounds for relief of a remaining half of the lands of Joane de A. de Beauchamp. He owned land in Devon, Wilts, Glos, Berks, Hants, Herts, Oxon, and Warw. from 1234 to 1246. He died in late July of 1245 and was succeeded by his son and heir Almaric II.

He was also known as Seigneur d’Esped. In a document dated July 26, 1156 he is recorded as joining the order of the Knights Templar and pledging his estate of Canens to the Master of the Templars at the priory of Montsaunes in Comminges. The document also mentions his two sons, Arnaud-Ramon II and Roger who also appear to have joined the Templars. The Templars were founded by Hugh des Payens and Godfrey de Saint-Amand, a Daspit ancestor, see the St Amand genealogy.
He was married in about 1140 and two sons are recorded:

He resided at Spel (Esped and Spel are ancient names of Aspet. In August of 1058 he donated the church of Saint Paul in Lussan to Bishop Bernard, Abbott of the Abbey of Sainte-Pierre-de-Lezat. He married in 1065. His lady wife is not known and one son is recorded:

Ramona became heiress of the fief of of Aspet and Estadens at the death of her brother. In 1196 she married Fortunier de Comminges, the 4th son of the Bernard III, Count de Dodun and Laurens of Toulouse. Laurens of Toulouse was the daughter of Raymond, Count of Toulouse and the Countess Constance. Fortunier was descended from the Counts of Comminges. Of this marriage, there is one son recorded:

Services for Ray C. Keeth, 80, 150 Swede Ave., will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Osborn Funeral Home chapel with the Rev, A. J. Vos. pastor of Swan Lake Baptist Church, officiating Burial will be in Forest Park West.
A Shreveport resident for two years. Mr. Keeth died at 5 p.m. Monday in Guest House Nursing Home following a lengthy Illness. He was a native of Ardmore. Okla., and was a former resident of Austin, Tex.
Mr. Keeth was a veteran of World War I, and was a member of El Karubah Shrine, Muskogee Chapter 3, Royal Arch Masons, Muskogee Council 2, Royal and Select Masters, Muskogee Commandery 2, Knights Templar.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Vivian Keeth; a daughter, Jere A. Keeth of Shreveport; a brother, L. R. Keeth of Marshall, Tex.; and three sisters, Mrs. Alvis Johnson of Amarillo, Tex., Mrs. Margaret Roberts of Lincoln, Neb., and Neva Keeth of Sentinel, Okla.

Mr. Hollier passed away on Monday, November 28, 2011 in DeWitt County, TX.

A lifelong resident of Rayne, Mr. Hollier was a truck driver for many years. He was a member of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his loving companion, Shirley Chaumont of Rayne; daughters, Chermaine LeBouff and husband, Tony of Carencro, Ashley Hollier of Duson, Bobby Jo Hollier of Lake Charles, and Victoria Hollier of Duson; sons, Sherman Hollier and wife, April of Opelousas, Brandon Hollier of Lafayette, Blake Hollier of Duson, Joseph Hollier, Jr., and Lesley Bott, both of Rayne; sisters, Geraldine Hollier of Rayne, Shirley H. Arabie of Sulphur, Lena Parker of Duson, and Connie H. Mathews and husband, Clayton of Duson; brothers, Sexton Hollier and wife, Carrol of Eunice, Eulix Hollier and wife, Linda of Higginbotham, Gordon Ray Hollier and wife, Sharon of Carencro, Emery Hollier and wife, Brenda of Rayne, Russell Hollier and wife, Linda of Rayne, Ivy Hollier and wife, Linda of Rayne, and Gene Hollier and companion, Rene of Scott. Mr. Hollier is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Proceeding Mr. Hollier in death were his parents, Freddier and Angelina Doucet Hollier; brother, Harry Lee Hollier; and sister-in-law, Sue Hollier.

Visitation for Mr. Hollier will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 from 2:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home, Rayne, LA, with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.

Friends will be received Monday, May 26, 2014 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm & Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm & Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 8:00 am until 9:30 am at Gossen Funeral Home, Inc., Rayne, LA. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm Tuesday, May 27, 2014.

Pallbearers will be Clay Simon, Jordan Hollier, Michael Hollier, David Hollier, Gregory Hollier and Steven Hollier, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren.
