Arnaudville - Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2012, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church for Noelie Hollier Duplechin, 92, who passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home.

Father Keenan Brown officiated at the Funeral Mass. Interment followed at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery.

Mrs. Duplechin was retired from the retail grocery business for a number of years. She was an avid card player who always enjoyed a good game of Bourrée. Noelie was a wonderful cook and was famous for her andouille sausage gumbo. Every year she looked forward to her favorite holiday, which was Christmas, as well as her birthday. She showed great love and pride for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Survivors include 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Steven Hollier of Lafayette; and one sister, Sybil “Taunte Sue” Stelly of Arnaudville.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 75 years, Freddy Duplechin; her son, Willis Duplechin; her daughter, Merella D. Stelly; her parents, Olide Hollier Sr. and Angela Guidry Hollier; two sisters, Thelma H. Guidry and Paola H. Angelle; and five brothers, Harry Hollier, Elie “Bizou” Hollier, Arthur “Beb” Hollier, Olide Hollier Jr. and Bradley Hollier.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Pallbearers were Brian Duplechin, Steve Schwartz, B.J. Duplechin, Keel Duplechin, Dale Stelly and Zack Stelly.

Honorary pallbearers were Joel Scarbrough, Ryan Deppe and Chaz Deppe.

Pellerin Funeral Home of Arnaudville was in charge of arrangements.

3274 Numa Deville Passes Away
Friends are grieved to learn of the death of Numa Deville, 67, well known resident who resided near Opelousas. He died Thursday morning at a Ville Platte hospital following an illness of several weeks.
Lafond and Son Funeral Home have charge of the arrangements and services were to be held Friday morning at 9:45 o’clock at the Catholic Church here in Opelousas with Father Marin and Father Colliard officiating. Woodmen of the World will also hold services at the cemetery.
Pallbearers were: James St. Amand, Sidney Ducharme, Lawrence LaSalle, Roger Dufilho, L. Austin Fontenot, Sr., and Lawrence Ledoux.
Mr. Deville owned and operated a store on the Opelousas Ville Platte highway.
He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Amelia St. Amand; a son Etienne Earl Deville of Addis, La.; a daughter. Mrs. G. E. Kirkpatrick of Columbia, Miss; a brother. Oscar Deville, Opelousas and the following half-brothers and half-sisters: Raymond and Gussie Deville, Westlake, Kenny and Gaby Deville, Sulphur; Lamar and Russel Deville, Vinton; Alexander Deville. Port Barre; Mrs. Tom Bihm Prairie Ronde; Mrs. August Miller and Mrs. M. Miller, Elton; Mrs. Cyrus Dupre, Eunice; Mrs. Lawrence Thibodeaux, Iowa, and Mrs. Lane Reed, Vinton.
He is also survived by three grandchildren.

St. James dated 27 April 1819 and signed D. Tureaud, judge, solemnized the marriage and
received mutual consent to marry Louis Joseph Dufilho, major and legitimate son of Jean
Dufilho and Jeanne Marie Bonnet, his parents, native of Mirande, Département de Gers, France,
age 31, resident of New Orleans, on the one hand; and Adéle Becnel, minor and legitimate
daughter of the late Maximilien Becnel and Erasie Haydel, native of this parish and domicilied in

3277 O’Neil Hollier Dies in Hospital
O’Neil Hollier, 71, of 701 Fifth avenue, Port Arthur, died today at about 11:15 a.m. in Park Place hospital. He was the widower of Mrs. Mestaia Hollier who died here March 14 of this year.
Mr. Hollier is survived by a son, Fred Hollier of Port Arthur; one daughter, Mrs. Dora Campbell of Houston; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services for Mr. Hollier will be held Thursday at St. James Catholic church at 4 p.m. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial park under direction of the Grammier-Oberle Funeral home.
Mr. Hollier was a native of St. Martinville, La., and had lived in Port Arthur since 1920. He was a self-employed grocer and owned a grocery store at one time in the 500 block of West Gulfway. He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of St. James Catholic church.

Carol Ann Hollier, 61, a resident of Lake Charles, passed from this life on March 27, 2018 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. Born April 20, 1956 in Vermilion Parish, LA to Riley and Sable Hollier.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, sister Loretta Benoit, nephew Lance Benoit, and niece Lisa Paddio.

Carol was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved to draw and write poems. She enjoyed trading and making deal with her friends, and listening to gospel music and watching movies.

She leaves behind children; Amanda and Bill Reynolds (grandchildren) Sable, Willy, and Raylyn, Emmanuel “Eric” Hollier (grandchildren) Brooklyn, Kailynn, and Emmadria, and Gabrielle “Gabby” Hollier.
Siblings: Mindy and Mark DiDonato, Joey and Melissa Hollier, Iris and JM Holland, Johnny and Tesa Hollier, Jimmy and Chris Hollier, Tamera and Neil Campbell, and Ryan Joshua Hollier, along with many nieces and nephews.

Kathryn, age 81, passed away, on Saturday, August 28, 2010 in Sacramento, California, where she was then laid to rest.

Reverend Bryce Sibley, STL, Pastor of Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church, will celebrate the Memorial Mass. Reverend Michael Champagne, CJC, will be the concelebrant. Kathryn was born in Vinton, Louisiana on September 7, 1928, lived all of her youth in Ville Platte, and was a resident of Lafayette for most of her life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. Kathryn taught lower Elementary Education in Lafayette Parish for many years until her retirement. She was co-owner of Les Amis Florist and very active in several church and civic organizations. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A gathering to celebrate her life will be held, immediately following the Memorial Mass, at Jeanmard Hall, located adjacent to the church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30PM on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church for Thomas “Tommy” “Mr. T” Lezin Hollier, 82, who passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Camelot of Broussard.

Reverend Michael Delcambre, Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the Funeral Services. Readers will be Larry Blanchard and Aaron Hollier. Jodi Bollich, soloist, will sing the following selections: “Ava Maria”, “The Old Rugged Cross”, “Amazing Grace”, “Be Not Afraid” and “Hail Mary, Gentle Woman”.

Burial will take place in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.

Mr. Hollier, a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana was the son of the late Andrew John Hollier and Anastasie Blanchard of Broussard, Louisiana. He was born Monday, June 10, 1935 in Broussard. He grew up in Broussard and moved to Lafayette in October of 1967.

He was a graduate of St. Cecilia High School and played baseball and basketball for the St. Cecilia Blue Jays. He was an avid rabbit and squirrel hunter. From 1950 to 1953 he traveled to Wisconsin with family members and friends to work in the cherry orchards and corn fields. He worked for the Fabre Grocery Story while in high school. He retired from L.A. Frey & Sons in 1979. He was also employed by LeBouef’s Grocery and Meat Market and Billeaud’s Superette.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Coulter Hollier of Lafayette; three daughters, Thomasine Hollier and Rebecca Hollier Gill of Lafayette and Kelly Hollier Duplantis and husband Tony of Broussard; one sister, Ethel Hollier Morvant of Broussard; one brother, Aaron Hollier and wife Maxine of Youngsville; three grandsons; three great grandsons and two great granddaughters.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Todd Andrew Hollier; his brothers, Alvin Joseph Hollier, Andrew Norwood Hollier and John Harold Hollier; former son-in-law, Andre Arceneaux and his brother-in-law, George Morvant.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Broussard from 12:00PM until time of service.

Pallbearers will be Ben Bordelon, Tyler Arceneaux, Dillin Bordelon, Tony Duplantis, Aaron Hollier and Kevin Morvant.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Camelot of Broussard for the special care given to “Tommy” during the past five and a half years.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

In 1894, on December 14, I gave the ecclesiastical burial to Odeide Drouet, widow during his lifetime of Edmond Trouard, who died suddenly yesterday morning aged seventy-three years and ten months.

Mamou-Funeral Services for Mrs. Odile Brtrand, 97 will be held on Monday October 10, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at S t. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou, La. Burial will follow in the new St. Ann’s Cemetery with Father Emmunel, officiating Mrs. Bertrand , a resident of Mamou and a native of Mamou, LA, died on Friday, October 10, 2008 at p.m. at the Savoy Care Center in Mamou.
A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and, she is survived by three daughters Rita Bogard, of Iota La; Sherry Lafleur of Reddell, La and Freddie Andrepont of Lake Charles, La; one son Rayford Bertrand of rayford Bertrand; two brothers, Aulley Hollier, of Mamou, La and Dennis Hollier of Eunice La. Eleven Grandchildren, Twenty- three great-grandchildren and Seven Great- Great Grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Sunday,October 12, 2008 at the Ardoin Funeral Home 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. The Funeral Home will reopen on Monday, at 8:00 am until time of services.

VILLE PLATTE - Funeral services for Mrs. Odile Hollier, 91, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church here with burial in Sacred Heart Mausoleum. The Rev. Randy Moreau will conduct the services. Mrs. Hollier, a resident of Ville Platte, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at her residence. Survivors include: four sons, Philip Hollier of Ville Platte; Donald Hollier of Opelousas, Richard Hollier of Kinder and Joseph Francis Hollier of Madison, MS.; four daughters, Helen Powell and Margaret Hollier, both of Ville Platte, Rita Fontenot of Natchitoches and Patricia Deshotels of Vidrine; two brothers, Charles Dore of Opelousas and Harrison Dore of Jasper, Ark.; a sister, Catherine Rena Velthoen of Spain; 32 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hollier was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Hollier. The family requests donations be made to the Sacred Heart School Foundation. Visiting hours will be observed from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and from 7 a.m. Friday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. by the Catholic Daughters, and at 7 p.m. Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte is in charge of arrangements.
