    Notes:

    Name:
Juliette, Julie, Julitte, or Julita. Surname sometimes spelled Desborde or Déborde.

    Birth:
Although not explicitly stated on the baptism certificate, it is assumed that Julitte was born in Louisiana since her parents were living there at that time.

    Residence:
    Luc Ollier, 42. 50, 12, 3, 20. Julie Deborde, wife, 30. Garcons: Isidore, 1. Filles: Julitte, 7; Sotye, 3. Slaves: 4.

    Died:
In Julitte's probate records, the petition of Isidore and Furcy Hollier dated 30 Nov 1826 states "that Julie Desbordes widow Luc Hollier, the mother of your petitioners, lately departed this life in said Parish, where she has left her Estate". Based on this and other information in her probate, her date of death is sometime between 12 August 1824 and 30 Nov 1826, but most likely close to the 1826 date since her death would have prompted Isidore and Furcy to unseal their mother's will.

Julitte married Luc Claude Hollier on 19 Feb 1765 in Pointe Coupee, Louisiana, USA. Luc (son of Luc Hollier and Jeanne Ordonneau) was born on 2 Sep 1735 in Nantes, Loire-Atlantique, Pays de la Loire, France; died about 11 Aug 1808 in Opelousas, St Landry, Louisiana, USA; was buried on 11 Aug 1808 in St Landry Cemetery, Opelousas, Louisiana, USA. 1. 6.  Sieur Jean Joseph Le Kintrec was born in 1689 in Brittany, France; died in 1753 in Louisiana, USA.

    Notes:

Joseph LeKintrec and his partner Joseph Blanpain were the Frenchmen who opened southwest Louisiana to trade and may have been the first coureurs de bois at the Opelousas post.

Port Barre, at the point where Bayou Courtableau flows into Bayou Teche, was the site of a French trading post 250 years ago. It was here that Jean Joseph LeKintreck traded whiskey for furs brought to him by Indians of the countryside.

LeKintreck was one of the coureurs de bois who were among the first Europeans to come to Acadiana in search of trade. His practices -- especially that of trading whiskey to the Indians -- did not always sit well with the government authorities in New Orleans, but they had neither the mind nor the muscle to do much about it.

LeKintreck was born in Brittany in 1689 and arrived in Louisiana sometime before 1716. By the time he ventured into the Opelousas territory, he had been involved in exploration, trapping, and trading expeditions in Louisiana for some 20 years. He'd claimed land on the Mississippi River above New Orleans, married Anne Marie Baftz, and had fathered several children. He had also managed to acquire the title Sieur and the alias "Dupont".

Jean married Anne Marie Le Bouef about 1715 in New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Anne was born about 1692 in Germany; died about 1723. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    2. 3. Marguerite Le Kintrek was born about 1728 in Louisiana, USA; died in 1789 in Allemands, St Charles, Louisiana, United States.
