Obituary:
COTEAU - Funeral services for Etienne "Shorty" Romero, 88, will be held at 11 a.m.. Wednesday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church with the Rev. Matthew Higginbotham officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will continue today until 10 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. rosary at David Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday.A native of Iberia Parish and a resident of Coteau Mr. Romero died at 9:40 a.m.. Monday, Oct. 20, 2003 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Mr. Romero was a retired farmer. He loved playing Bouree' and enjoyed the horse races. He is survived by loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Romero was preceded in death by his wife, Nedia Hollier Romero; his father, Dewes Romero; his mother, Lezina Romero Romero; and three brothers, Mayo, Melvin and Elias Romero. Pallbearers will be Ricky Boutte, Ryan Dunbar, Wayne, Scott, Harris Jr. and Keith Romero. Honorary pallbearers will be Curley Romero, Eddie Labit, Albert Romero and Harry Simon.
