    Luc Claude was a merchant and a native of Brittany, France.Luc Claude marries the Opelousas Post Commandant's daughter and settles there with a Spanish land grant and grows Indigo for awhile. Both Luc Claude and Jacques Noel and their sons were in the cattle business. Their separate cattle brands are recorded in the Brand Book in 1775 in St. Martinville (Post des Attakapas).     Luc was a retired surgeon of the Marine and served as the "cirufano del puesto" (surgeon of the Opelousas Post).

    On the 4th of 7bre [September] 1735 has been baptized by me, the vicar under-signed, Luc Claude born on the 2nd legitimate son of Luc Ollier Master Cobbler and of Jeanne Ordonneau address road St. Nicolas have been godfather and godmother Claude Colin and Françoise Morneau the which (female) does not know (how) to sign The others under-signed notice signed Claude Colin Luc Hollier J [Dupont?] vicar.

    [7bre is an archaic style of abbreviation for the French “Septembre”. Although the way it is written in this entry it is easily mistaken as “Fvre” for “Février”, there are several others written more clearly as “7bre” on the same page. In addition, these entries are immediately following August and prior to other very clear September entries.]

    On August 11th of the year 1808, I, priest of Opelousas provided an ecclesiastical grave for the body of Luc HOLLIER, aged about 70. He died after having received the extreme unction sacrament [anointing of the sick]

    Although not explicitly stated on the baptism certificate, it is assumed that Julitte was born in Louisiana since her parents were living there at that time.

    Died:
    In Julitte's probate records, the petition of Isidore and Furcy Hollier dated 30 Nov 1826 states "that Julie Desbordes widow Luc Hollier, the mother of your petitioners, lately departed this life in said Parish, where she has left her Estate". Based on this and other information in her probate, her date of death is sometime between 12 August 1824 and 30 Nov 1826, but most likely close to the 1826 date since her death would have prompted Isidore and Furcy to unseal their mother's will.
