Notes: Pierre Trepagnier was a milita officer in Louisiana and served under Governor Bernardo de galvez in his campaigns against the English during the American Revolution. He was a wealthy planter in St. Charles parish. He disappeared one morning in a mysterious manner from his plantation, leaving his family at the breakfast table and driving off with an unknown individual, never to be seen alive again. Notes: Jean Francois Daspit de St Amand, native of Toulouse, France was born in 1690, the son of Jacques Daspit de Saint-Amand and Dominique Bordeliere. He went to live in Paris and consolidate is fortune, but after a sequence of adventures and some unfortunate duels he had to leave France. In 1719 he departed for Louisianna provided with a commission of miliatary Captain, which was purchased for him by his father. Notes: An erudite Canadian genealogist says that the primitive name of the Trépagnier family was de Trépagny. For the last century or more, he asserts, it has been written as Trépanier, but by referring to the older Canadian records, one discovers that this family name has seen many transformations. In Louisiana, Claude de Trépagny (or Trepagnier), the founder of the family in that colony, signed his name as Trépanier. His son, François, adopted the form of Trépagnié. Notes: Genevieve Drouin was the daughter of Robert Drouin, born in 1606 in the parish of Pin, chatellany of Montaigne, in Perche, France, and of Anne Cloutier, born in Canada and daughter of Zacarie Cloutier and Saincte Dupont. Robert Drouin and Anne Cloutier married in Canada, their marriage contract being signed in the Seigneurie of Beauport, parish of Notre Dame de la Misericorde, on July 27, 1636.
