    Eugene Clyde Soileau
    December 10, 1936 - December 29, 2017
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for, Mr. Eugene Clyde Soileau, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, LA. Reverend Matthew Higginbotham. Interment will be at the Gardner Hinckley Family Cemetery.

    Mr. Soileau, age 81, a resident of Washington, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy. Mr. Soileau was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. He enjoyed tending to his garden, spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, and time with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Soileau was well known for his perfect garden and his spicy rice and gravy. He will be greatly missed by his friends, family and all who knew and loved him.

    He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Merryle Anne Hinckley; daughters, Karen JS McKinney and husband, Robert of Washington, Kim Soileau Lofaso and husband, Daryl of Mandeville, Katrina Soileau of St. Cloud, FL, Claudia Soileau Abell and husband, Chad of Lafayette, LA, Hope Soileau Gardner and husband Jason of Mandeville; brother, John Dale Soileau of Houston, TX; sister, Delores Couvillion of Opelousas; grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Gardner, Jacob Phillip Lofaso, Amanda May Lofaso, Davin Joseph Gardner, Anna Louise Mina McKinney, Lily Marie Abell and Charles Ellery Abell.

    He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Maise Soileau and brother, James Curtis Soileau.

    Visitation will be held on Monday, January 1, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. A Rosary will be prayed by The Ladies Altar Society at 6:00p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

    Pallbearers will be Daryl Lofaso, Chad Abell, Robert McKinney, Jason Gardner, Jacob Lofaso, Davin Gardner, Charles Abell, Jared Meche, and Greg Meche.

    In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Gardner Hinckley Cemetery Association (P.O. Box 291 Washington, LA 70589).
