Notes: Pierre Chauvin, born in Ajnou, was the son of René Chauvin and Catherine Avard de Solesne. He died in Nouvelle France August 4, 1699. On March 3, 1643, he was established in the parish of Ville Marie, on the Isle of Montreal, and received a grand of land in Canada in 1654. His wife was Marthe Autreuil, daughter of René Autreuil and Françoise Lachaunerlin, from which union were born eight children, six sons and two daughters, six of whom became splendid pioneers in French colonial Louisiana.
