Today, second of the month of november of the year eighteen hundred forty four, the sixty ninth year of the Independence of the United States of America, by virtue of a written order from the Honorable probate Court in and for St. Charles Parish, dated November first of the present year rendered upon petition of Mr. Onesiphore St.Amand, executor of the will of the late Antoine D'Aspit St. Amand.

Today, first of the month of May of the year eighteen hundred and thirty eight, sixty second of the Independence of the United States of America, I, F.L. Labranche, Judge in and for St. Charles Parish in which I reside and practice the functions of Notary Public, upon request of Mr. Antoine St. Amand of this Parish, have called to this residence at three o'clock in the afternoon in order to receive his last will and testament. I found said Antoine St.Amand in a bedroom lit by a window facing the river, opening on a gallery, connected by a back door to a second gallery, sound of mind, memory and judgment as it appeared to me, above named Judge-Notary as well as to the witnesses whose names follow: Louis Friloux, Pierre Kinter and Jacques Kinter, all major of age and residing in this Parish. He declared that, although not ill at the present moment but being very old, he must expect to die at any time and did not want to be taken by death unaware. To that effect he requested me to receive his last will and testament, which I did immediately, before the above named witnesses, under the dictation of the testator, as follows.

I declare that my name is Antoine D'Aspit (?) St. Amand son of Dominique St. Amand and Francoise Pujol, both deceased. I was born in St. Charles Parish in seventeen hundred and fifty-seven and have always resided there. I married a second time with Dme. Celeste, Henry Jean Eldemair. I had four children from that second marriage, three of them being still alive: Dme Eliza St.Amand, Onesime Onesiphore St.Amand and Eluther (?) St.Amand.

I declare that I had, outside of my marriage, from my relations with Therese Belasie, free negrees, four children named: Honorine, mulata, of about sixteen years of age, Arsene, mulato, about fifteen years old, Victorin, mulato, about twelve years old and Jean Baptiste Brecourt, mulato, about nine years old.

I declare granting full and complete freedom to the above named children, Honorine, Victorin, Arsene and Jean-Baptiste Brecourt and request the executor of the present will, whom I shall designate, to fulfill all necessary formalities required by the law for the emancipation of those children, born to the negrees Belasie before she was granted her freedom.

I give and bequeath to each of the above named children, Honorine, Arsene, Victorin, and Jean-Baptiste Brecourt, to be taken from the cash balance of my estate, the amount of one hundred piastres, payable in full, said amount to be deposited with their mother and held by her until the majority of the marriage of each child. I wish said amount of four hundred piastres bequested hereby, paid to Theree Belasie within the year following my death.

I give and bequeath to said Therese Belasie the amount of four hundred piastres to be paid in one single payment by my executor within six months following my death. I declare also that I grant their freedom to my two slaves, Francois and Marie, both of about sixty years of age. I give and bequeath to the shop of the St. Charles Parish Church the amount of one hundred piastres payable in one single payment.

I give and bequeath to Arsene, son of Therese Belasi, named above, my saddle horse called Cayetano, which I bought at the sale of the late Norbert Zeringue's estate. I also give and bequeath a cow to each of the other children of Therese Belasie: Honorine, Victorin, and Jean-Baptiste Brecourt, said cows, with the horse Cayetano to be entrusted by my executers to Therese Belasie.

And, for the executor of the present will, I designate my nephew and godson, Mr. Onesiphore St.Anand, to whom I entrust the safekeeping of all my possessions from the day of my death and to whom I give all necessary powers for the lĂquidation of my estate. In case of incapacity or death of my godson and nephew, Onesiphore St.Amand, I name, as executor of the present will my relative and friend, Mr. Charles Perret, to whom I delegate all powers given by me in the present will to the above named Onesiphore St. Amand, my nephew. I hereby cancel and revoke all other testaments of codicils which I could have drawn prior to the present will which, I declare, contains the fina], and valid expression of my last will.

The above has been taken down under dictation by the testator, Antoine St. Amand, by me, Judge-Notary undersigned, writing without interruption before the above named witnesses, after which, I, Judge-Notary, in presence of said witnesses, have read the present testament to the testator who declared that it contained the correct and faithful expression of his last will.
